Screw down crown

Hello chaps,

Would appreciate some help from you knowledgeable fellows.

Have never owned a diving watch before, and my girlfriend's just bought me a Luminox 3005 for Christmas. My question is about the screw down crown. It says in the instructions to turn the crown until tight to make it waterproof, but this never seems to happen. I can turn it for ten minutes, and it'll still pop out to the 'change time' position.

Am I doing something wrong, is there something wrong with the watch, or (and this is possibly the likeliest answer) and I being thick?

George

It sounds as if you are not actually screwing the crown onto the threads on the tube. You need to push the crown in when you turn it. You'll feel it catch the threads. Once it catches it will only screw a couple of times before it seats. Finger tight is fine, you don't want to strip the threads.

Thanks, man.

Actually, turned out to be a rather simpler explanation. They included the wrong instruction book with the watch, and it hasn't got a screw down crown. My friend has the same watch, and it's just a push-in crown, so I wasted my whole morning. (and, yes, I do feel silly) haha

See what happens when you read the directions.

Glad you got it sorted.
