If you have a Ss subc would you get a Ss GMT2c
...or are they too similar to justify a purchase?

I have asked myself this same question a lot recently. I guess the answer is, if you want it buy it. im gonna wait until after Basel to see if rolex have sorted out the bicoloured bezel issues, and if they have I will pick up a GMT IIc with a pepsi besel, thats plenty diferent from the sub. Especialy with the PCL's

Yes kind of - the way I look at it is if you only have one watch (Sub) - and youre thinking about getting a second, why get one that looks so similar to the one you already have?
I only say this because there are so many other awesome models that look totally different different (ie YM, Daytona, DJ/DD, Polar Exp, etc....) or even a TT for that matter. However, if you already have a huge diverse watch collection then I wouldn't say it's an issue. |

Absolutely but in reverse! I have a GMT IIC but plan on getting a Sub C at somepoint.
As the excellent picture above clearly shows they are different watches. They are similar at 1st glance but certainly very different upon further review. ![]() |

At this point I wouldn't. If so, get a used GMT Pepsi or a 1675. |

If they appeal to you I would consider an older GMT with a Pepsi or Coke bezel (or even an Explorer II). If not, then I say go for it. Lots of people (on TRF at least) have two different Subs - surely they're even more similar than a Sub and a GMT. Look at it this way: Likely, you will be the only one who even notices your watch, so do whatever floats your boat.

Yes, I have a friend who has both.
Myself, I have a TT Sub C (black) and am planning to get the GMT IIc soon... |

No, but mostly because I like the SubC so much more......if a 24-hour hand is important, I prefer the Explorer II to the GMTIIC....

I have the GMT IIC, and would still buy both, however would want some obvious visual differences; either the LV, or possibly a bi-colour ceramic for the GMT one day.

I had a GMTIIC and I had a hard time justifying a SubC. I did very much want a SUB so I got a 16610LV because the latest version with the green dial just didn't suit me..

I dont own either, but I have been trying to get a Sub for a while now (I keep walking out with somthing else every time I go in). I think that If I had a GMT2, I would probably want a SubC as well, but if it was the other way around, I would probably not get the GMT2.
For me, it is to do with the heritage of the Sub. If I am honest with myself, I will always want one, but probably not because I like it (if that makes sense). |

I've had the same dilemma !
I just find them both to similar to warrant it being my second watch, it has the pull my Sub had but think I could do with something different but along the same lines if you get what I mean. In hind sight I think a better decision for me would of been a Sub LV and a GMT ! Holding out hope on a upgraded YM this year :-) Sam |

The only thing from stopping me from having at least one of everything is the $$$$. I would have both if possible. Currently, my 2 'necessities' are a 16610 lv and a GMT II Pepsi, much the same as your question.

I sometimes asked myself the reverse question "I already have a SS GMT, would I want a SS Submariner?". I have answered that question for myself....YES!!! (but I'd prefer the pre-ceramic models)

I contacted Eric and saw his pic here above and then I took the decision: the SubC is different enough form the GMTIIC so I needed the SubC ... ![]() Now I've bought it and I can tell you that they are really different watches (also from a visual point of view), fulfilling different needs, so my suggestion is go for it ![]() Ciao Engi |

Well I have had 3 at one time...let me explain. I have the GMT IIc, had the Sub C LV and the Sub C LN... The sub LN and the GMT were too similar for my taste and to justify the expense so away the Sub C went... As for the LV, it was too green with the dial and bezel, a beautiful watch but not for me so that went too

no
I would not do it as a second Rolex. If I bought a few others and wanted to have the GMT just to fill out a collection, maybe. There are plenty of others to buy that don't look just like the Sub.
I might swap the Sub for a ss GMT so I could have the bezel-switching option, though. |

Too similar IMO. The thing that anoys me with the GMT is the green hand and i wish there was a choice of coloured dials like the Sub. If you got the LV it would be more different to the GMTc.

I wouldn't, they're too similar. I'd either get a TT GMT IIC, or a WG/SS DJ II, or a Pepsi GMT II non-ceramic.

No definitely not. They are too similar. I would go in a different direction and get something like a Daytona or maybe a Datejust II.
