DSSD -- Very Sissy Bezel

I noticed that the bezel on the DEEPSEA has a very cheap sound to it and moves a little too quickly for my taste ....

The bezel on the SD, is nice and tight and you can feel the resistance.

You just can not feel the resistance on the DSSD bezel...even my seikos have bezels that have greater resistance to turning...
For a watch this hefty and such a thick bezel, most likely the thickest of all Rolexes, it would be great if there was more resistance to turning ... wish it was tighter...

Anyone else noticed this??

I have noticed this before, yes.....But "Sissy" is hardly the word to describe it!!!
It's one bad a$$ watch regardless of the bezel tension.....

You do have a valid point however. It's due to the ball bearing insted of the click spring action...

Yes, mine does the same thing. Let me help you with that sissy bezel. Send it to me and I'll train it to be a macho bezel. Good to go? :D

Enjoy your DS man. It's such a cool watch. King of Kings, Big Dawg, Ruler of the Wild in my book!

Could it be that the bezel is designed for those wearing the gear of a saturation diver and not the hands of a guy who just wears one because it looks cool?

Maybe for those who really put the DSSD to work, the new bezel is an improvement over the old SD.

It's also possible that with enough water pressure placed on the bezel, it turns in a much more manly fashion.

not in my opinion as many divers now and have used friction bezels so they dont move easily by mistake

Please send me that sissy watch and I'll train it to be a man on my wrist... bear in mind it's an extensive program - time frame for full completion of my program is 1 - 2 years.

Hmmm....

sissy

Mine isn’t loose at all....I actually thought the way it rotates is a major improvement as far as function and feel.
Maybe your bezel needs adjustment (is adjustment possible)

Water pressure won't change the resistance, since water pressure on the bezel will come from all directions onto the bezel...

The bezel is a bit easy to move, but I take a "looseish" bezel over a "bloody fingers" to move it bezel everyday...

Haha try telling Mike O'Leary its a sissy bezel. He was the first sat diver to test the DSSD (for Rolex) at depth during an actual working dive.

His video is on the tube and you can see him giving it the thumbs up. Divers now tend to use dive computers for readings.

Check out Mike's site. He also has a collection of COMEX watches

I would disagree, I think it feels refined, that thing moves silkily smoothly. It feels like it's been overengineered, just like every other aspect of the watch

Sissy Rolexsubdate should feel how smoothly the cylinder spins on a 44 magnum.

What does a very expensive, as opposed to very cheap, sound, sound like?

I don't agree with anyone of you it just feels smooth and firm. Pretty much like how it is on my sub C.

Cannot understand the term you used sissy for the bezel function, but on the various proper diving forums. There have been quite a few reports that the DSSD bezel was easily turned by mistake while underwater not a good thing in a diving watch.

I agree there's a difference between firm yet silky smooth and 'sissy'

Strange - that's what put me off the GMTIIc (which I see you have).

The bezel on my Deepsea is not loose.

I can say from personal dive experiences with my deep sea the bezel is perfect. The older style can be a bit difficult to set. The deep sea turns great even with drysuit gloves on, something hard to do with ann older style. I have never had it get bumped or move either, like some detractors worry about. Not cheap at all, I find it very well made.

The op should man up and dive with his watch before calling it sissy.

On a watch like this, it should have been tighter. Tighter and more rigid would have better suited it ....a bezel that rotates
this easily, gives the entire watch a very toy like feel ....roatating the bezel ruins what ever heft the watch has ....
kind of like most guys in the gym .... huger muscular upperbodies but chicken legs...
