AP 15300ST for a Deep Sea

I've got an Audemars 15300ST and I'm thinking of trading it for a Deep Sea. Could this be a clean swap?

So, maybe a daytona would be a better trade?

To answer your question...

Yes it could be a clean swap but I personally would not do it.
The 15300 & DS are two VERY different watches as I'm sure you know..

Do whatever makes you happy.
Keep in mind that the difference, in size, between the 2 watches is HUGE.

AP RO/ROO is one of the most hyped line of watches at the moment, bar none.

I really like the 15300, its historical significance and pedigree but at the same time, it is not a practical sport watch. It is more of an office watch IMO.

It all depends on what you do, what your lifestyle is and even your body type/build. I've owned the Deepsea several times. Sorry, I just can't do it. Too thick, too heavy IMPO. And frankly, they messed up the design (not the engineering). So personally, I wouldn't trade a 15300 for a DSSD.

Thank you

Wow. I didn't expect to get this kind of replies specially in a rolex forum. I guess the 15300 speaks for itself.

I'm keeping the watch because of your opinion guys. What a great community!

Sorry Guys, I am in the minority here!
While I may not trade the AP for the DS, I definitely think the DS is a much better looking, more modern, and a superior watch, regardless of the pricing of the AP!!!

Just saying is all....Love my DeepSea and would never trade for the AP!!!

Wait a minute....Wait....Wait.... OK!!!

Flame suit on......Fire away...

No way! I have a 15300 and what I would do would be to save and add a DSSD or Blancpain Fifty Fathoms or a ROO Diver.

Contrary to many of the opinions above, I traded my 15300 blue dial for a GMT II 16710 (+$2500). I'd do it again. The AP is a beautiful watch, just a little formal & sparkly for me & I never bonded with it. I now wear the GMT almost every day. I do miss the 60 hour power reserve and that watch was extremely comfortable, but for me the GMT is more of a daily wearer.

I don't really buy the argument about the 15300 pedigree. The Gerald Genta designed original from the 1970s was actually the Jumbo (thinner & with no seconds hand). The looks are similar but the 15300 is blockier and feels completely different on the wrist.

I completely agree with this assessment. No point of owning a AP 15300 "just because" or because it is fancier than Rolex. I just wouldn't trade one for a DSSD.

In my mind the AP is a much better watch and much more desirable, but if you wanna trade it, do so by all means.

I wouldn't though....
