What is your DSSD pref - old or new dial?
Objectively speaking, regardless of what you own, do you prefer old dial?
Or the new dial? (Or are you smart enough to say it really doesn't matter?) |

I must be blind and I am getting old. Sorry I haven't noticed any difference.

Yeah, new font may be slightly nicer, but I've never grabbed a MkII and studied it in person. Not a big enough of a difference to me.
Besides, I prefer owning a first year produced watch. |

I like the old version. The long F in ft reminds me of my calculus classes back then and I don't like the spaces left and right of the = sign ... Of course we are talking minute stuff, but since the question is asked ... There are some versions (on the Sub at least) where the = is either closer to the ft or to the m ... I like symmetry, therefore old for me. Maybe I am just mad

I have a late number V serial DSSD with the newer dial. In all honesty, I would never have noticed the difference if it weren't for this forum. I like both versions

I can't really tell a difference. I guess new since its newer. I think my watch is a M-serial so I'm sure it has the "old dial." I purchased it right after the DSSD was available.

I think the old dial matches the over all watch better. the new dial print is similar to the older sea dwellers.

Don't forget the flat S on the old dial.
I really believe that the first release of any Rolex watch is best, Because Rolex put a lot of time and research to design that watch, they must have felt that the dial on the MK1 dial was best. |

I'm inclined to say that I prefer older/original dial because the "beefy" font seem to fit better overall with the beefiness of the watch, but then again, it is certainly not a deal-killer.
The new font with more space is similar to the ones being used on the SubC, so that is the design going forward. |

Mine has the older dial - and I enjoy the longer 'f' and the tighter kerning with the '='
It is strange though, because mine appears to have the newer style typeface for the bottom two lines: "SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER..." It is hard to tell

Well, as I have the older MKI, I'm going with that! The difference is negligent however, IMO!!
Personal preference is and always will be suggestive. To throw a spanner in the works, I think the old dial with the newer dials coronet would be a great combo!!

I'd like to get mine already so i can at least have a dial to prefer or not prefer. I should have mine in about a week or so.
Not much f a difference but the new dial speaks to me though i do se the benefit of owning an initial iteration of anything. |

I prefer the boldness of the mkI dial but the mkII dial is good too.
Not really an issue i think. Either will do & even though i have a mkI, if i were in the market for one, getting a mkII would not be an issue. Just enjoy the damn thing - its a great watch! |

I have a mk1 and do actually prefer it. Along with the spacing, the f and the squashed S I also prefer the look of the word DEEPSEA and SEA-DWELLER. The E's are different, the longer centre baton. Like others have said the changes are negligible. Love the watch with either tbh!!

New dial, mainly because it is the one I have (& I prefer the rounded 'S'). I think most would be battling to see the difference with a casual look of the naked eye.

Have to agree over the years there have been many many very slight dial variations on many Rolex watches. But over the last 10 years with todays Rolex loupe mania these very tiny details that have always been in Rolex watches for the past 40 odd years, are now by the aid of high magnification are more pronounced.

Newer dial for me. I once had a 14060M with that weird looking coronet and I sold it pretty much because of that. It really bugged me. I thought it made my watch look fake.
