What makes you 'tick'?
That we are ‘into’ watches is obvious, but what makes you tick further? (Pun intended ). I collect vintage US flight jackets and gear. My wife and I collect cookbooks (83 now) and like to cook fine meals for good friend and family. I like all kinds of stuff: fountain pens, electronic gadgets, fine leather goods like wallets and briefcases, old toy cars, pocket knives, art books, vintage commercials and adverts and whiskey and fine cigars.
Well, tell me about your passions! Frans.

Hey Frans - how many cookbooks do you need to learn how to put chocolate sprinkles on a piece of toast? I know, it's a Dutch thing.....
Other than the cigars, toy cars, and vintage advertizing, I have interest in most things on your list in some form or another....... I'll have to give this some additional thought and add some things later. |

I would love to collect beautiful women but my wife always objects.
I don't really collect anything else and I wouldn't really say I am a watch collector, more of a fan of watches. What else makes me tick,my family. Aaron |

I don't really have an order to mine so i'll just list them. I like music, watches, and cars. Thats basically it. I used to be kind of video game obsessed like three years ago, but I'm over that.

Besides watches and posting here, I like reading, travel, photography, bird watching, motorbikes, keep fit, gadgets, spending time with my wife and drinking beer but in moderation.

I've had time to think about this, so......
I like good food - eating and cooking it. I like good drinks such as a nice smoky, peaty Islay single malt, or a good cognac. I also love red wines (not a big fan of whites to be honest) and I do like various beers (mainly nice bitter ales). I like listening to music - all kinds with a couple of exceptions (rap & country). I enjoy my family (including the devil-dog) and of course good friends. I like my work, most days anyway, and love being involved in technology, and making things happen. I love gem stones, and in particular opals from Australia. I used to do a fair bit of woodworking, but there doesn't seem to be time for it any more. Probably the only thing in my life that has received more attention than my family is the sport of archery. Started when I was 12, and have shot off and on ever since, and plan to continue - it really is a lifetime sport. I once had very large goals in the sport, and I managed to achieve most of them, but have so far come up short on making it to the Olympics. The arthritis I suffer from doesn't help (huge understatement), and the recovery from shoulder surgery in early 2004 has been much longer than I ever expected. I hope to be back to a competitive level by next spring, but will be 44 years old when the Olympics are on in Beijing, so not sure how long I can keep this up..... Here are some pictures of the things above....... Me when I was shooting better than I am now (57 out of 60 at 70 meters). Very good scotch! Nice blue on black opal I have as an ear ring..... This is a mainly red on black opal (the rarest kind) that I have a ring for my finger.... This black opal is about 1.6 carats - very nice and unset at the moment. Last one for today - green on black and also unset.... |

Impeccable taste in Scotch Al, bet thats as smooth as Daren's golfing arms.
Frans have tried the beer from the Trappist monasteries we have some Trappist Monks on Cauldey Island. Just a little island of the coast of Tenby, Pembrokeshire Wales, tried quite a few at a beer festival in Belgium many years ago great ale.

Yes Frans, that's a Bowmore, and yes Padi, that's really smooth
I am going to have a look for some of the beers you guys speak of to see if they make it as far as Canada - they sound good! |

What makes me tick? Not a whole lot. I read fiction. I watch tv. I love old movies. I surf the 'Net. I enjoying visiting other cities. I love my New Beetle. And, of course, there are The Watches.
I used to like eating rich foods, but the diabetes put the kibosh on that. |
