168000 matte

hi , i remember a thread a while ago and doubt was cast as to wether or not these existed . so heres a link to one for sale ,

That is not correct dial for that model, it looks like a genuine Rolex dial but it should be on a early 16800.

I read on VFR that it possible that some 168000 got there dial replaces with matte when serviced is the RSC hade some lying around. But I doubt that they ever come from the factory that way. As the matte dial stopped in 1985 and the 16800 is from late 1986/1987.

I would love to have a 16800 matte dial from 1986... but they do not exist….
168000 matte is a Frankenwatch! An original Frankenwatch!
It’s like having a red dial on a white 1680, original but wrong IMHO!
