Panerai Deployment Buckle real or fake??
Hey guys,
As you guys know, I had been searching for a watch for quite a while and you guys helped me choose the Pam 359 over the Rolex DJII. I put a deposit down on the watch from out of state AD earlier this month and just made my second (final) payment today and will receive the watch tomorrow morning. I want to begin buying straps as well and have found this combination for sale on ebay. Can you guys tell me if its real or fake? Thanks. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Panerai-...item3a6cb7cc38 Also posted in panerai straps but wasn't getting any answers... |

It's really hard to tell by the pics in the eBay listing. The deployment clasp on the newer ones have "panerai" embossed on the underside of the large section of the clasp. Hard to describe but very visible in hand and hard to duplicate I am sure. Sorry I can't be of any more help. Good luck.

Not my pic but you can see the panerai embossed on the underside of the clasp. Hope this helps.

Thank you. It is really difficult to tell. I will ask him for some additional photos and see if that helps. So if it doesn't have the monogram on the back of the buckle that means its fake or is that a more recent addition to the buckles.

This has been on the deployment clasps for several years. Have the seller send a pic of the back side of the clasp. Good luck.

I don't know what to tell you. I looked at the one that came off my PAM 90 and it has the embossed "panerai" on it. Maybe a better expert than myself will chime in.

I purchased a deploy buckle And strap off of the bay a few months back. The one I got had all of the right markings in all of the right places but the fit and finish gave it away as not the genuine article. I contacted the seller who refunded my money without a fight.

i would say fake, as his other auction for a buckle is DEFINATELY fake, so would not trust anything from this seller.

The cheap strap gives this away, but the aftermarket buckles and deploys are of pretty good quality. Make sure you pay accordingly though

hi princeton, the font looks off to me...i have bad experience with purchased of deployant buckles before. Yeah i paid gen price for a fake, trust me the fakes is really well made this days...
Tried to buy the newer style with anti-counterfeit engraving underneath the buckle and go for those c/w boxes...remember this, gen ones are perfect in every aspect. Precision that is, buckle shld flush perfect when closed. If your gut feel something not rite, look away... If you havent sign for the mailman, don't sign. Reject the mail, email seller you calling off the deal. If you used paypal, shld be able to recover your monies. Best of luck Princeton...

I agree with Louie, essentially I personally wouldn't buy these straps especially off ebay, I only deal with my watch dealer (trusted) with references, these replica pieces often look even "more perfect" than the geniue pieces if you know what I mean I would be extra careful.

I was just watching a Radiomir deployment on Ebay from a seller in France. He listed it as genuine. He has sold a few recently in excess of a $100.At almost the last hour all pictures were pulled from the site and the item was no longer available.I wonder if Panerai is clamping down?
Today I found what appears to be an identicle item available for around $70 here in the USA.It looks to be a decent copy and is sold as aftermarket. Has anyone actually experienced this deployant copy? http://tpdventures.ecrater.com/p/115...-for-radiomir# click on the zoom feature and see the detail. The PANERAI engraving apears a little rough and possibly brass showing through? Here's one similar to what you are interested in...... http://tpdventures.ecrater.com/p/925...-24mm-leather# |

If you compare the grain of the leather at the buckle stitching in the photo you were sent, you'll notice the difference to the grain in the auction photos.
Seeing as this item sold for around $300,it just shows how careful you need to be.The seller clearly stated that the photos in the auction listing were of the actual item. Hey ...people trusted Bernie Maydoff with a lot more money ! |

Hi,
I would say it is a fake because the identation under the inscription panerai his rounded in the corners and not scare. |

and just for curiosity sake here is the "aftermarket" strap and buckle available
for around $70 (inc shipping !) . It just goes to show what a minefield this can be. |

That seller has been selling nothing but fake straps/clasps. Notice they come in a zip lock bag instead of the regular plastic bag. Horrible.
