DSSD DeepSea and the Carribean
Hello everyone,
I took the DeepSea down to the Carribean and Miami recently during our family vacation. After sizing the bracelet (taking out two links), and wearing it everyday for the last two weeks, I can say that the DSSD is a very comfortable watch. There is definitely a size and substance to the DeepSea. Overall, I love how solid it feels on the wrist. The new Glidelock clasp is fantastic...I was able to quickly make small adjustments to the bracelet. Furthermore, I love the domed crystal. It seems to make the surface more reflective to light (my perception). I have two complaints or disappointments with the DSSD. One, the bezel is a bit loose. It turns very smoothly, but can easily be knocked from its position. Two, I wish the bezel "teeth" were more deep. They seem to have the same depth as the Submariner. In my opinion, the DeepSea teeth should have a corresponding increase in size. These are my quick impressions. Sorry I am not a very good reviewer. Here are some pictures on our trip. I visited a few Rolex stores (Goldfinger in St. Marteen, AH Rise in St. Thomas, and Mayors in Miami). The best discounts were definitely at both Goldfinger and AH Rise. The prices I was quoted were the best I have received anywhere (even better than here in the Sales Forum). I wished I was more prepared for this revelation before my trip. I would have probably made a purchase. The Mayors inside the Miami International Mall did not offer me any discounts on stainless steel models. We also visited Paradise Island in the Bahamas, and toured the Atlantis Hotel. Inside the Dig, we saw the Atlanteans diving suits and diving bell. I couldn't help but imagine that the Atlanteans would have likely used the DSSD DeepSea during their dives. Happy Holidays to Everyone!!! |

That's why I like my 16570 Exp. II over the GMT Master because of the fixed bexel. I have no real world use for a rotating bezel and I was always adjusting it back to top position when it got moved either way and I found it to be annoying. I purchased my rose gold diamond dial Day Date at Goldfinger and got a nice discount there. I'll be in the Caribbean on a cruise in 2 weeks and will do some watch shopping while there.
