Which rolex watch to buy? somebody ask me that. My answer is submariner LV. It has potentially high investment value, a watch that maybe discontinue in 2009. In future it will be rare as the watch being produce for only 5 years. If can get one that is the anniversary year, F series. It may cost double ten years down the road.

I don't know if the LV would be valuable in the future. I have no idea. Anyway when i buy a watch i buy it only because i like it. I dont buy it order to make money in the future from it. Welcome to the forum

High investment value ?? "discontinue in 2009" - perhaps, don't count on it.

They may be worth more than MSRP in ten years, but will that keep up with inflation ? Double ?, I doubt it in the short term.. even in ten years they will still be plentiful, even if they stopped making them right now. For those who paid a premium, it may be a long time before they even recover that..

There are earlier Subs that had longer production runs but generated fewer numbers that will always be worth more..

But, hey....that's what speculation is all about. Your guess is just as good as mine...

I think that Rolex made a quite a few LV's. In which case, I would be surprised if they are worth much at all.

GMT 2 ceramic bezel TT version O like it alot or TT blue SUB but TT BLUE SUB is finally winner cause of its lower price and classic nice shaped case.

Unless you are in the business, don't ever buy a new watch as an investment. Live by the axiom that the way to make $1,000,000 buying and selling watches is to start with $2,000,000.

I'm with those that say buy what you like.

If any reference becomes desirable down the road then that's a bonus.

If not you still have a watch that's special to you.

All Rolex watches are all beautiful, great and unique watches in their own ways. Whatever model it is, they are all definitely very special, even the Yacht Master II.

If I had to choose one model now though, it would be the newer TT GMT with ceramic bezel.

Agreed!

Buy what you like. They stay with you much longer and you get much more enjoyment from them.

Welcome to TRF

If you want to buy a Rolex as an "investment" you would want to

1) either buy a desirable VINTAGE Rolex in good condition with box and papers, preferably a Sport's Rolex

2) buy the ONLY current Rolex that can be considered as an investment, especially if you can get it for MSRP: The SS Daytona.
