Question on a little issue

I bought my Seamaster 222080 from a trusted fellow TRF member. Watch is great and running in excellent condition -1 +1 on a daily basis. He said it was previously serviced at an Omega AD abot 5-6 months ago by the previous owner. Which is great considering I dont have to service it in a few years. However, my issue is that this AD did a sloppy job in the cleaning. On the inside of the saphirre crsyrtal you can see cloth streaks (you know as if you cleaned it with a dirty cloth) It is only noticeable when the light hits it at a certain angle though. It is on the whole crystal, man that gets to me!!! What can I do to get this fixed? Do I call Omega? This irritates me and again, it is NOT the TRF members fault but that AD that did this sloppy job!

Yes, that would irritate me too. I would take it to a watch maker or send it off to Omega. I couldn't live with that.

Send it to a trusted local WM and have it cleaned.

you can open up the watch, remove the movement and wipe down with a microfiber no lint cloth. I got a speedmaster back from an Omega service center and had the same issue as you.

Find your local Omega AD and see what they have to say, maybe they have someone on staff that can do it or worst case they can give you a referral to a local guy

Keep us posted

I just called the local AD (they sell Rolex, Omega, Breitling Bell & Ross, Panerai etc.) and they said they could do it, they have their own repair and watch maker. They will let me know tomrrow how much, the sales rep guestimated $100!!!! Just for that!!!

If you have one close to you, I'd try going to an Omega Boutique. Either they should have a watchmaker on hand who could fix the issue...or they could have it sent to a service center.

Update: I called the Omega boutique in Phoenix, I explained the issue and the Omega representative said that it sounds like the anti reflective coating might of been wiped off hence the streaks. I didnt know this watch (SMP 2220.80) had the anti reflective coating on it. I thought that was just with the Planet Ocean? Anyway, he told me to call the main office in New Jersey and they can ship a box to me have it shipped insudred over there and they can make estimates on it, he said that there may be a chance the crystal has to get replaced and it will run to $200. If I decide not to get it done I dont pay anything and they will ship the watch back.

Can you post a pic? I bet we can tell you if it is the AR or a dirty rag etc.

I had a MK40 that had the AR coating rubbed off as well as a PO. Hated to look at them.
I fixed the Speedmaster and sold it immediately. I hope to never buy another watch with AR on the outside again.

This ebay auction shows damaged AR coating...confirmed with seller too.

I miss that 3520.53...just a tad too small for my liking...

I've been in the boutique in Phoenix, def no watch maker in their 500 sqft of mall space.

It'll be way more sending it to Omega, I'd trust your local AD and see how they do, maybe it'll be just wipe marks and they'll take care of you

I had it taken care of, took it to the AD. They wiped it down and cleaned it up, it was indeed in the interior of the crystal. They did as good a job as they could. Also got rid of the lint that was on the dial. The crystal is not perfect as there is a little left on the left side but its no where near as noticeable as it was before so I can live with it until I go to the mega Boutique in NYC. BTW total charge was $92!! just for that, oh well I have spent money on worse stuff out there, like taking women out to eat and then tell me later thay are seeing someone else!
