Funny comment at work today..
"Nice fake watch. Everyone knows Rolex doesn't make a green Sub!"
Made me smile. |

Oh well, it's probably better they think it is fake then.

You should tell him that's why you don't have one.

Well I know it's been out a while but even Rolex fans don't keep up with new stuff. When I got my DSSD I had 2 comments about it being fake. One because Rolex didn't make a watch that big. On guy told me it was a fake of a prototype that wasn't released yet (I kinda understand this because I had only had the watch a month and was the first one my AD got in so it was very new.) The first guy had a Rolex on. Remember we as a TRF community are a very small percentage of Rolex customers. Many don't follow Rolex as closely as we do. That's why I don't make comments like that.

So Rolex makes a green Sub eh? That's interesting...

A guy at my old job said my GMT-Master II was fake, he was the most condescending guy in the office, I was so close to punching him but verbally abused him instead

The hell with the haters. All that matters is that YOU know the watch is authentic. I bought my LV-C for MY pleasure, not that of others.

Many will make a comment about a 2 word watch being more expensive, at least they looked.

I've thought about this one and would probably politely, but a bit sarcastically respond something to this effect:
"Wow, you must really know your watches. Thanks for letting me know! Say, I would like to buy another... something a bit different.... What do you think, maybe a GMT II, or an Explorer... I've also thought about looking at vintage, maybe a DRSD, or a Paul Newman... What would you recommend? Also thought about Patek or FP Journe..." And to top it off: "what are you expecting to see this year from Basel?" |

Send him/her an email or note from Thomas Gray's poem, Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College (1742): "Where ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise."

Before 2010, Rolex didn't make a green dial Sub. Remind him that we are in 2012.
Funny, I was at work today and this guy said that my SS Daytona is nothing. He has a Platinum Daytona that is a little bigger than mine and it is called Cosmograph. Maybe he just got the Daytona 2 from the Baselworld 2012. LOL |

Hmmm. My wife wears a red datejust. She bought a red dial and had it installed by her jeweler. I wonder of people think that about her's. I would post a picture, but somehow my account would only allow me to post by referring to a link.

So either you don't even have a Daytona and claim that you do, or your SS Daytona is a horrible fake, or you are a troll? |
