Patek AD Visit
I stopped by my AD today just to look around. I hadn't been there for quite awhile. It's a good thing too as they just recieved a couple of Pateks. This is the first time I had ever seen a Patek Chronograph in person. They just recieved a 5170 which they had ordered 2 years ago. Gorgeous watch, I'm sure someone will purchase it fairly soon.
They had a couple of 5130's, and a 5205 Annual which looked real nice. Then he showed me a 5726 which was real intriguing. Unfortunately I couldn't take any pictures but I really did enjoy my visit, I definitely saw more than what I expected to see.

I would have loved to see such a great selection, which one did you prefer?

I made the mistake of trying on a 5980R and I think it is permanently burned into my mind now! That elegant brown dial and RG with that sick Chrono - I am in PP love!
Visitng AD's can be so dangerous - they should have caution or warning signs as you enter!

The 5170 is a grail for me. Something about the way Patek makes a chronograph. The 5726 was the second one I would have chose out of the group.

I've been to 4 Patek dealers this week (3 in Vegas) and all have at least one 5130 P or G in stock and 3 have a 5170J in stock. Seems like either PP is shipping alot of those models or they aren't selling...

When I visited my AD last month, he was able to show me the 5131G world time with the enamel dial.
Though, I know that a lot of collectors rant about them, and I appreciate that the dial takes a great deal of skill to design ( I believe that Patek only have two skilled craft workers, who can do the work) I was left cold. Unfortunately, this is one of those pieces that retails for approx £45,000 but is selling for three times that amount :(

If only AD's had some kind of "buy 5 and get the 6th one free" deals, yours would be in the mail at this very moment!

Very true Dan, visiting AD's can be a very dangerous exposition!
The beautiful thing about this post (please forgive my brown nosing) is to see the progression from the thought, dream to reality. The feeling of realizing your dream piece cannot be described in words... More than well done again sir
