New member in need of advice--Decent find?
Folks,
I have an Explorer II and my wife has always wanted a Rolex. Her birthday is in May, and I wanted to surprise her with a brand new watch. I am thinking about purchasing this watch from Beckertime... http://www.beckertime.com/date/ladie...6209/#nav_tabs Can some of you folks take a look and let me know what you think? It looks like clasp and bezel may not be factory original but everything else is listed as and looks clean to me. What are your thoughts? |

This is far from a 'new' watch. It has quite a lot of scratches.
The bracelet is quite stretched which is not good. This is a very small watch, and your wife with all due respect may not be able to read it easily. I would check out the sales forum here for better opportunities.

Thank you so much for the tips, folks! I chose my words poorly. I am willing to go pre-owned here. I have a friend who works at Rolex in NYC. My plan was to get the watch and send it to him for a tune-up.
My wife is also very petite, so my goal was to get something small. However, that will be another excellent point moving forward. As far as the authenticity of the piece...does it look legit? Thanks again for everyone's input! |

Does it matter is the pics look legit if they add this. Re-check the ad. I saw this.
This is a file photo. As with all of our watches, authenticity is guaranteed! |

I was actually referred to Beckertime by my father-in-law, who has heard nothing but good things and has been a previous customer. I was careful to read the ad. Everything looks like it reads factory original but the bezel and clasp. I can live with that. If I want to go with "Rolex" parts on those, I can always ad later.
But again, I am admittedly new to this world. I am merely a novice... |

It's a file photo of a well-worn scratched Rolex with a stretched bracelet and the dial and clasp may be not be "factory original". If that is the best they can come up with for a file photo; what exactly are you going to get from them?

Folks,
Just wanted to give an update here. Again, I do kindly appreciate everyone's help. I did purchase this watch. It did arrive six days after my purchase. It was indeed genuine. It was exactly as we thought. Bezel and clasp did not look factory original. Gold screw cap was indeed but had some wear. Bracelet was very loose and battleworn. The watch overall was a decent piece. However, I know my wife and she would not have been happy with the appearance. I called Mike to take advantage of my option of a full refund. He was nothing but a gentleman. He emailed me the shipping information immediately after we got off the phone and was completely understanding of my concern with the wife's opinion. Again, I would like to sincerely thank everyone's help on this one. Since joining, I have been logging in almost daily to check the post wire! |

I might add that my wife swapped her two datejusts for regular ladies oysters since changing the date was a pain and very hard to read except in sunlight.
