Tell me about this

This is my first Rolex. From 1974, my birthyear.
Can anyone tell med anything about this watch just by looking at it? Dial is flat black as far as I can see.
Any comments are welcome

Bought it as a wreck for about 500usd summer 2011. Had it serviced a few months ago, hardly recognized it when I picked it up.
Cannot decide wether to keep it or sell it in order to get an Explorer 2.
Thanks for positive comments.

I'm new here, and am not sure how to post a question about a vintage Rolex. Could someone point me in the right direction?

it should be 6426, no date version 6694. If the band is original 78350, then usd500- is really a very good deal. The watch head alone exceed that la.... CHEER!

Yes, defintely it is a 6426, manual winding, 19mm band, 34mm diameter (ref 6424 it is also manual winding but 36mm and 20mm and no holes).
Simply stuninng, classy and elegant. Keep it and enjoy it!!

It is a beautifull watch, but it seems impossible to sell, it only attracts woodworms and fleas...

A very nice example - traditional-old school, classy, and reworked perfectly. Congrats, enjoy and welcome to TRF!
