I'm very satisfied with it. I've had it for a week. It's a beautiful watch, love the green hand. It almost disappears when I don't need it but is easy to find when needed.
I had three things that worried me a bit before I bought it. The ugly "Rolex, rolex.." writing, where there used to be no text, the shiny middle link, and the date bubble. "The rolex, rolex" text is actually not too bad, I don't notice it to be honest. I when I notice it I actually like it The shiny middle link works aswell, but when I have a reason to go to my watch repair guy I will ask him to "unbling" it. The bubble takes some getting used to, I think the watch would be better looking without it, but I can live with it. My watch has kept 0 sec in a week. My Sea-Dweller once went +1 second during 15 days when I timed it so I guess this is an improvment. |

Thats a nice set but I have never been excited over the Rolex pen. I guess I am a true MB fan.I think if Rolex and Montblanc had done a special edition pen then I would have gotten excited.

I'm very happy with my 116710. But I don't have any other experience Rolex, so I have no personal comparison. The specifications are:
+2 seconds per day. Date changes at 12:05 AM The bezel is awesome. The look and feel are sublime. The clasp is amazing. The green hand/lettering and the RolexRolex chapter ring are very subtle and should not desuade anyone from considering this awesome watch. The polished center links look good with the overal watch design, but they do show smudges easily and I already have several small sratches on them, which is OK with me. I want to treat it with respect, but not be afraid to wear it. Sometimes, well most of the time, I don't $6,000 worth of precision on my wrist. I realize that I paid a fair premium for the Rolex brand and design, which is perfectly OK with me. I mean, come on, I'm wearing a Rolex!! The only other thing I will comment about, but have not heard anyone else mention is that is does not look like any other Rolex tool watch. We all can spot a sub from a mile away. The older GMT, SD, and sub all have the same general look with the anodized bezel and brushed center links. It's been this way for many, many years, and there are millions of them out there. The new GMT is much blingier and I think that some people may think it is fake since no other Rolex looks like it, or has looked like it. And with Rolex not changing their designs very often, it will take awhile for the new design to gain a recognition in the general public. This does not bother or concern me, just an observation. I do catch many people checking out my wrist. Even if they don't know it's a Rolex, They must be thinking that it is a beautiful watch. Basically, if you love the idea of owning a rugged Rolex Sports watch, but want a little more bling, then this is the watch for you. Last edited by ron17402; 28 September 2007 at 06:01 AM.. I got mine on the 25th Sept 07. I waited for a week. By the way, I got it from an AD in London. Bought it for GBP3420 but I will get GBP418 of VAT refund when I am leaving the country next month.
I managed to see the micro etched rolex logo finally after trying for 2 days. Trust me,this is a very beautiful watch and you won't regret buying it. |

I've been extremely pleased. The 116710 is the most accurate out of the box watch I've had.
As I've said before after the first six weeks of ownership it gained two seconds. After letting in run down, I reset it and found ten days wear yielded +/- 0 deviation. If I had to "pick a nit" it's about as bling as I can personnally go. LOL! |

That accuracy is incredable!!! I wonder if mine will settle down a little. When I first got it about 3 weeks ago, it was gaining about 1 second; now it's gaining about 2 seconds. In any case, I'm happy with the accuracy. |

I used to crap on Rolex because they kept poor time. Admittedly, it was from a small sample of watches owned by friends in the early 80s. Probably a cheap shot.
I have been collecting watches, but ignoring Rolex, for about six years. The Watchtime story a couple of issues back peaked my interest. Got a GMT II over last weekend. So far, it's runnning 3 seconds (total) slow. I find that amazing. Got a TT because I couldn't get an SS w/o a wait. Love the look and love the performance. Have gotten a few nice comments too. Most people have no clue about my A. Langes or the Panerais, but they know this is a Rolex. The MSRP on a TT is $8,925. Not super common, but no SS Daytona either. You can get one if you want one. I think these are going to become more scare as they catch on. Until the new features on the GMT II migrate to the Sub and others, I think they will take some of the market share. I already have a GMT watch ( Panny 233) and would have bought a date Sub if it had the new mainspring, ceramic bezel and bracelet improvements of the GMT II. |

For me, I got lucky and the timing was right. If your lackluster about the watch or your big purchases, you may be waiting for awhile, but if you on your game, you should be able to get one in a reasonale timeframe at a reasonable cost (list or a very small discount) Good luck!! i believe that the 3186 is one of the most accurate rolex movements ever manufactured. Also the cosmetic upgrades on the 116710 are awesome

I have had mine a few months now and have worn it every day - this is my fourth Rolex and by far the best looking and most comfortable Rolex I have owned. I have, however, had a number of issues with my watch - it has had to be regulated twice (but is now runing at +1sec which is quite outstanding) and I have also had a problem with the clasp, the dial has a flaw and needs replacing and finally today I noticed that there is an imperfection in the rim of the bezel (small chip at the 2 o'clock position). As far as SS watches are concerned I don't think that other, than the Daytona, there is any other watch to compare with the design of the new GMT. All in all it is a fabulous product which in my case has been rather let down by poor quality controls and some fairly sloppy workmanship - I shall be visiting my AD on Saturday to talk about how to resolve my issues but I have to say that the ownership experience has not been good and I may very well flip the watch in the coming weeks just to rid myself of the misery of owning a sub-standard product - hopefully though it will not come to that.
In summary, if you buy one just make sure you check it over very thoroughly before parting with your cash - if all is well then you will have purchased a quite outstanding watch which in my view is likely to become a design classic to rank alongside the other great Rolex sport watches. |

Too bad to hear that you received your 116710 with some flaws i hope that things will turn out good for you. Never heard of a defective 116710 that's really strange.

Mine is the most accurate Rolex I have ever owned. I have worn it since the day I bought it and this is coming from a guy who never imagined that ....1. I would or could lose interest in my SS/PLT YM and 2. never loved the GMT.
It is a spectacular timepiece. |

I'm thinking of taking her in to have the green hand aligned properly. The normal hour hand lines up nicely; as well as the minute hand relative to the second hand. We pay a BIG premium for the Rolex brand and quality and I don't think we should have to deal with standard, simple quality issues. This is not rocket science. They sure are milking the brand. Other than that, I'm very happy with the quality of the watch. |

Although my first Rolex, i couldn't be happier. Echo much of the above compliments to changes/improvements of watch. Polished center links do show finger prints/oils, but that is a known nuisance of polished links. I personally really love the look of the brushed stainless with the polished center links. One thing i don't see a whole lot of comments about are the platinum markings on the ceramic bezel. In my opinion this is one of the neatest things about this watch, the platinum markers (especially 24 hour marker) on the bezel really come to life and shimmer in the sun, way cool!! What's not to love about it..

Don't know yet, but it WILL be my third Rolex to own at the same time
I will have to live with my SD and SS Daytona until then.

Mine is keeping +0 secs a day. All hands line up perfectly at midnight. Date changes at 5 mins past midnight. Given the little bit of play in the hands you could probably change this yourself with a bit of fiddling - unless it's way out of course.
I do think Rolex have rushed getting these models out though. AND don't forget they are the FIRST IN THE SERIES. My motto was always - NEVER EVER buy the very first model!! LOL. You don't see the older GMTs/SUBS/SDs/Presidents with ANY issues. I couldn't resist this time though. That ceramic dial/SEL band/green hand had me pegged from the start. Not to mention how cool the chapter ring/LEC is. All I can say is, if there's an issue with one you've bought, take it to an RSC - they'll correct whatever concerns you may have. And they report all problems to head office. Edit: Oh, did you get that I was satisfied??? Last edited by Destroy; 28 September 2007 at 08:24 AM.. Reason: additional comments |

Jumping in here alittle late, and with my 116713 I think it is a great watch and very accurate. +2 sec over the course of a week.

She was shocked and made it very clear that misalignment was absolutely unacceptable. Basically, she echoed your statement above about paying the premium for Rolex quality (although she didn't use the words "milking the brand" LOL). She was emphatic that you should take the watch back and have it adjusted post haste. I should have PM'd you on this. Sorry 'bout that. It's kind of hilarious though to get a lecture from the AD about an issue like this. Almost made me feel guilty for not driving to NJ and escorting you to your AD myself.
