Help: Daytona Clicking While Unscrewing Crown
Hi guys,
Just purchased a brand new G-serial SS Daytona from an authorized dealer and had a question regarding a sound I am hearing with the watch. While getting ready to wind the watch, I unscrewed the crown counter-clockwise and while doing this, I heard a constant clicking sound while unscrewing the crown. To all Daytona owners, is this a normal sound that I should be hearing? The watch seems to run fine, just wanted to make sure my watch is functioning the way it should. This clicking sound does not appear when I unscrew my Sub ceramic. Maybe some watches make a sound and some don't while unscrewing the crown? Your help is much appreciated! |

The clicking you hear is from the winding pinion disconnecting from the sliding pinion. And normal. Congratulations

Huge bump on this.
My 2015 165200 does this, where as my other references don't. Seems to work fine though! |

I wonder if the OP's Daytona is still clicking after almost 6 years?

If there is friction for the center section to be held slightly in place, it will ratchet, as designed. If it turns with the crown until it pops out and engages, it will not ratchet (click). Of course, when engaged it always ratchets in one direction. Everything is connected, the crown is not like a lid that you are unscrewing. ![]()
