After seeing all those great pics by ron17402 of his NEW GMT with the green 25 hour hand I'm suspecting that my NEW SS GMT-Master II might be a previous year leftover.
I have a red 24 hour hand and I don't have the ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX all the way around. I also have a line under the crown on the screw down winder and not the 3 dots. My clasp is not the same as ron17402's either. Green sticker states 16710 if that helps.
Sorry but I cannot seem to take a decent picture of the watch though.They all come out blurry or lots of glare.

You either have the old one or a frankenwatch.

Or heaven forbid...worse.

If you just have the old one that is fine. They are great. Unless you thought you were getting the new one and paid that new price.

It's new from reputable dealer I have dealt with with for years, with all paperwork etc.
Wife bought so who knows what she paid. Said she got a "good deal" on it. She's not known to haggle.

16710 has been discontinued.............but it is still available for sale at ADs

the latest model is 116710.....

what u have is a brand new watch ...just not the latest model.....

Rider,

You're describing a perfectly normal 16710 SS GMT.
That model was discontinued this year and replaced by the ceramic bezel model 116710.

Should look like this one... One of my favorites..

And actually you might have the better deal. There've been a number of posts here from folks who said they preferred your model over the new one.

All that really matters is whether you like the watch.

Yes, thanks you it's exactly like that except my bezel is all black.

I think you have your answer. The new GMT (116710) is, depending on where you live, difficult to see in a AD. They go very quickly and in many cases, never make into the display case.

I see many "new" GMTs of the previous model (16710) in display cases. I really like that model too. I just preferred the 116710.

In any case, you have a beauty.

You would be talking more like this then...

Your wife has good taste, obviously. Look on your box and the serial number should start w/either a D or Z. Of the sport (40mm) watches, the 16710 is the thinnest, lightest wearing and has a lower profile clasp than the others. All that and still a rugged performer. The GMT-II 16710 is a fine choice, enjoy...

Yes that is it. I was trying to get a good picture of it last night to show all of you. Had it positioned on the bathroom counter to get the best lighting. Wife looking at me and shaking her head, not even trying to know why a grown man is taking pictures of a watch in the bathroom.

My SN begins with Z. Must be a leftover. It's all good. I love the watch. I really like the new ones too.

I wouldn't call it a 'lefover' exactly. For the time being, AD's will have both until the existing stock on the 16710 finally runs out. With the newer style comes a new price as well. Many here prefer the classic style GMT over the just newly released 116710. I'm one of them. You have a classic watch based on classic Rolex design features that have been the basis for Rolex's success for many years. The 'new' stuff announced this year has kind of split ranks in the Rolex community. Some like, some don't. Time will tell. As opposed to 'leftover', I would refer to your GMT as the 'classic' style. Classic is a good thing.
