How a father should hand down his vintage rolex to his son...
Hi All,
Some of you may know I've been looking for a vintage rolex to add to my collection. Was talking to my father about rolexes, and it appears he has the same appetite as me. He showed me his vintage rolex precision from the 1970's and it was the first ever rolex he had bought. I can almost remember as a kid playing and admiring the watch. I was overwhelmed when he said he would now pass it to me as it never gets any wrist time. I love it! It comes with the original papers and original oyster bracelet. I added a black hirsch strap today. It has all the dings of a daily beater. I love the manual wind as well, as I can almost sense that he would have had to go through the same ritual every day and wind the watch. I'm glad he has handed this to me now, if it was before I got interested in watches and rolexes I don't think I would have appreciated as much. To me sentimentally, this is more precious then all my watches put together. I hope one day I will be able to invoke the same emotions in my son or daughter. Here is a quick snap, as you can see it literally was his daily beater but it adds so much more to the character and history of the watch. |
