What have you done to me????

When I first saw APs on forums and on line, they really didn't appeal to me. But over the past 3-4 months I have been spending more time in the AP section than the Rolex section here on the ROLEX forum. I don't even have an AP yet, but I'm gravitating more and more towards the AP brand than Rolex or any other brand. 6-12 months ago, they did nothing for me and now I am enthralled by the AP brand. so My question, has anyone come full circle going from having no interest in a brand like AP, to being completely crazy for that brand???

I still plan to make my next purchase of a PAM 312, but hopefully early next year I can get my self a Diver on a bracelet!

I was always interested in the brand history but once I saw the ROO in person and could fully appreciate the detail I was sold. AP has my full attention now. I have 3 APs on my want list before any other brand.

I have fallen for AP as well. Was originally interested once I laid eyes on the Safari, but never took it much further, until recently. About a month or so ago, I purchased the Offshore Panda and than followed up with the 15300. Once you see, feel and wear an AP, it's hard to wear anything else. Good luck and welcome to the madness.

The attention to detail and contrast between brushed surfaces and mirror polishing must be appreciated in person. Pics don't do it justice. Just got my first AP (RO 15300) after collecting Rolex, Patek, Omega and GP and the RO is quickly becoming the favorite.

When I held one I knew I needed one.

IMHO Rolex look better in pics than in real life, AP looks better in real life than in pics.

Glad to hear not alone here. I have had the opportunity to try on a ROO panda and I was quite impressed. My list of APs that I plan on picking up are the diver, the ROO Panda and the ROC in black, in that order. I have pretty much given up any desire for a SS Daytona at this point.

My first exposure to AP was at Diamonds International Watch and Design in Cozumel. I was asking about the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph (the older one, not the Calibre 9300) but they didn't carry Omega. I was wearing my SS Sub and so they started showing me some pieces that were a little more, shall we say, exclusive than the mass produced, midtier watches like Rolex and Omega. Since I had expressed an interest in something orange (I've been lusting after a POC with the Orange bezel and black rubber strap with orange stitching for a while - even though I have recently picked up a Panerai and an AP, it still sings to me), the saleslady showed me a Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Chronograph. It was nice, but, it didn't sing to me. The manager then joined us and seeing that I was a discerning fellow, he proceeded to show me the AP ROO Volcano. The fat lady had sung. What a gorgeous watch. At the time, the most I had ever spent on a watch was $6K (my 16610 Y serial Sub - CDN dollars). So, when he told me the best price he could do on the AP was $19K and change, I thanked him for his time and let my wife drag me kicking and screaming out the door as he called after me "Treat Yourself Sir!", "You deserve it!".

Anyways, after the bug had worn off a little, I considered how much I would wear such a bold piece as the ROO Volcano. In the end, I went for something more subtle, but, being a ROO, it's still bold so I went with a Safari which I absolutely adore. As much as I still would like to have the Volcano, if I were to buy another AP, I would like a 39mm ROC with the blue dial. After seeing Ari Gold wearing it on Entourage, it seems like a solid choice. SS not the gold one he was given when offered the studio head job at WB.

Anyways, I have the bug now. The PP bug hasn't bit me yet. I'm only 40 and I'm told I still look 30ish (one of the advantages of being Asian, not so much when you are 19 and look 12 - hard to buy beer without ID, I was carded until I was 28), so, the PP is a little old in style for me. Still contemplating my next purchase (which won't be for a while). The PO Chrono is still in my eye but I've always wanted a black dial SS Daytona as well. It's just so Iconic. Plus with my interest in Auto Racing it just seems to fit.

Me being a non-Rolex person, I'd call this an education process in which you're becoming, well, more educated! This sounds very insulting, but I don't mean it this way!

I wasn't sure about AP when I joined this forum either but now I find them stunning! I wouldn't see myself wearing all the models I see because of their sizes but I think they look great!

...If you want my friendly advice, stay far away from Hal, Thomas, Ken, Dan, HR, Mike, Sam...heck, all the AP enablers! You know who you are guys!

Go for AP...
I have had both the pam312 and the ss daytona u mention. Lovely Pieces . A Month ago i flipped two rolex for a Diver...
I'm not sure if it was a wise decision. The AP is by far the most awesome watch I have owned. Problem is Im already looking to maybe add one more and it colides with the wifes idea of a new garage and I cant afford both right now:-)
Good luck with your Hunt..
Cheers

Same thing happened here.
I was a true blue Rolex man, I believe they were the best thing to happen to mankind since sliced bread...
Until and unexpected visit to my local AD yielded my 1st encounter with the AP RO 15400... I knew that was it...
Couldn't sleep for a week... I was eating AP, drinking AP, sleeping AP and dreaming AP...
Went back to the AD, pulled the trigger, and I am a happy camper since then...
Welcome to the club!!

The first AP I notived was the ROO. It didn't speak to me at all, still doesn't. But when I became aware of the 15300 and even more the 15202 I changed my mind about AP. The history of this watch is compelling, and the looks are fantastic. I want one!

Still has not won me over yet . I think some pieces are wonderful and elegant but the volcano, bumble bee and similar are hideous IMHO. I think a lot is hype . . Especially on here. That is just my opinion,

You want good advice on watches or clothes etc ask an elegant lady
