PM-ing another user

Is there a minimum number of posts or membership days before you can send a private message to another user? I searched the FAQs but couldn't find the answer to that. I do know that on most forums there are such restrictions..

I don't believe so, you can always give it a try if you are unsure. Worst case scenario: the private message doesn't get sent.

I'm not able to. When I try to submit the PM, it goes back right away to my own Inbox, with nothing in my Sent Mail.

Well that doesn't mean the message hasn't been sent, it means you didn't "activate" the Sent Mail Box (I'm afraid I don't remember the proper way to say it...). There are other threads explaining how to do it but otherwise that's what happens when you send a private message so yours have probably been sent!

Yup, I'm a dunce. (I figured this out when the recipient of my message that "didn't get sent" miraculously responded to it.)

You'd think after years of being a senior member on other online forums I'd have known. It's just that on all the other sites the default setting is to save sent messages so I never had to set it myself!
