Double red at work
Back at work, bobbing around the high seas for Christmas is always a bit of a bind but this cheered me up a bit.
Got talking to my new back to back about watches due to me just getting the Seadweller to go with my sub. He then produces this on his wrist. He bought it in 1973 from another diver who needed the money at the time. Ill not tell you how much he paid, suffice to say it wasn't a lot He thought it might be worth something. Me being an honest soul pointed him in the right direction as to we're to look. Needless to say he's now in a very good mood |

I'd hazard a guess its all original.
After speaking to him at shift change yesterday all he's done to it is wear it for the last 39 years. It was only this year, when his dentist saw it, that he was told it might be worth something. He never thought anything about it again until I mentioned it to him yesterday. He's an old Sat Diver, now Shift Supervisor, so it's seen plenty of action over the years. He said he only bought it because in them days he wanted one with the HEV. He's off shift now but ill try to get some more info tonight when it's his turn to sit in the hot seat |

most of the guys with old company rolex , just wear them , id say there are a fair few out there that to the people who wear them are just work watches they got years ago.
a couple of years ago i was after hose fittings for a mask , and the guy in the hydraulic pneumatic shop said ,,, ah you must be a diver ,,, he worked for comex , and at the time he swapped his comex for a seiko , cos it kept better time. nice watch though , great find for both sides. |

Yep. I was on one of our dive vessel several years ago and just before the lads went into the bin they were sat around talking as they do.
Apart from the normal sprinkling of Omegas, Subs and Seadwellers I think I counted about 4. That's not counting the dive Supervisors who's was an early one with a very low serial No. Like I said, next time I'm on a dive vessel ill try and get some pics. Might be a while though as I'm based on ROV construction boats at the mo. |
