RSC cheeses me off!!

Ok, gave my dad a explorer 1 a year ago. It is now having problems with the power reserve. So he calls Rolex NYC. to send it back in, as it is under warranty. They state they need Proof Of Purchase receipt since AD's address on warranty card is Hong Kong. WTF!! thought it was international, what does it matter if bought in HK or USA. As long as warranty had AD, date, and buyer on it. So now trying, which maybe impossible since I am not back in the USA to go through all my old paperwork, to look for old receipt.

Anyone have the address/POC for other RSC in USA. ??

See if it can be sent to the San Francisco RSC. Which in fact is not really an RSC per say as it is independent of Rolex and the RSCs in Beverly Hills, Dallas and New York.

They may honor it without hassles. Anybody have the San Franciso RSC contact info for Chad?

Play by the rules, Rolex Rules, don't ask for a rule book because they can make up spot rules as they go along
Sorry I really shouldn't say that, maybe it's just that sometimes they dictate policy without a degree of proper discretion. I hope it works out, it should.
I think they are getting touchy about having to service a watch that might have been 'imported', which they may or may not have a right to be touchy about.

Ridiculous, what if you received it as a gift? Do they expect you to ask the gift-giver for a receipt?

His Dad did recieve it as a gift from him.

My AD says they never question if the person who brought a Rolex in for service is the original owner or not. If it is under warranty they send it off for service, no questions asked.

My rolex was a gift, and the gift giver made sure to let me know to go into the AD and fill out the warranty paperwork. So is it possible the purchaser filled out the warranty paperwork and that is the problem? Not sure how it works, but thought I'd offer some details.

That's bad hope that you sort out the problem. Rolex guarantee is supposed to be international

These are lame tactics from the Rolex USA RSC to make purchases from grey dealers to appear more difficult.
Somebody who has free time on their hands as well as access to legal advise, hopefully free, could make them dance on the tune they are whistling!!
Enough with this greed. With the prices we are paying and the volume we are moving, one would think they have more than enough profit margin to honor the warranty which Rolex has intended to be international.

Other fine brands

Are the service policies of other fine watch brands as fussy as those at Rolex?

Leopardprey - please post your experience when you get this resolved. I expect that they will honor the warranty in the end. Which begs the question - if you are going to honor your warranty in the end, why not do it in the beginning and make this an opportunity to do some "customer service".

Right now I am having my dad call another RSC, Dallas or will check out SF. Told him to just act as though he is me, send it in with the warranty card.

I think RSC NYC is really screwing themselves. Why even buy a Rolex then overseas while on vacation, as many do, if RSC NYC will not honor it without a Receipt. I am glad other brands are not so paranoid. (Hey, who changed "pisses: to Cheese???!!!! LOL LOL LOL )

Thats i typical RSC Nwy York, I walked in to get a watch regulated and they wanted a full service cahrge, as I only had a copy of my warrantey and my original till recipt with watch, make, serial etc. I was traveling in new york at the time.

My watch was purchased in Asia - on vacation. RSC of Beverly Hills has no issue whatsoever working on my watch. Been in twice now, still under warranty.
