New Member, first time Rolex owner! (Sub-c content inside)
Hi all,
First post here and I think it's fitting that it's about the watch I received 2 days ago. I previously owned a Breitling Navitimer 01 that I bought new last August at 20 years old. However, I'm in the military and I didn't feel comfortable wearing that watch at all especially on work since I am very active and wanted something more rugged. I also swim 4+ days out of the week for training so I needed something I'd feel ok about wearing in the water. Behold! My new (to me) Rolex Submariner. It's a 3 month old watch that I got on a trade-in deal with Govberg Jewelers in Philly. Got it for a good price and it is flawless. Part of the reason I didn't get this the first time around was that it was so new that I didn't even know it existed, and I was one of those anti-Rolex guys (shame on me). I thought about saving some money and getting a 14060M (I was set on a no-date... cleaner looking, James Bond, etc.) but the glide lock clasp and full solid bracelet is what sold me. The chromalight maxi dial and cerachrom bezel were all big factors plus I wanted something that didnt have case holes. I never thought I would be lucky enough to own a Rolex at 21, my friends think I'm crazy but I'm in love with every detail about it. Time to start saving for a Pepsi bezel GMT II and my grail watch, the Day-Date President. My Breitling ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362329024.238182.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362329035.969965.jpg My new Sub: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362329065.203225.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362329077.036497.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362329098.503013.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362329303.819985.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362329314.236612.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362329327.486660.jpg The lume in that last pic is very green since I charged it with the LED flash on my iPhone. Under normal daylight to darkness conditions it glows in that sweet blue color. -Joe |

Welcome and Congrats, a very well thought out first Rolex !
I'm retired now but purchased my first Submariner at 25 yr., all my friends and family thought I was crazy too. It never diminished the smiles each and every Rolex has given me over the years ! |

At 21 you'll get to enjoy it for many many years. Excellent choice for your first Rolex. Congrats.

It's a spectacular watch. It's got some flash to it but its still every bit as rock solid and tool-watch as it ever was. Wear it doing whatever and don't think about it, and when it you want to dress it up take a toothbrush and some soap to it, throw on a shirt and jacket and you have instant class.

Thanks all! My dad said I was crazy to trade the Breitling for this, going from such a complicated piece to arguably one of the simplest ones out there. But the ruggedness of the watch along with the simplicity and reliability of not having a date window sold me.

You made a wise choice. After 20 years, the Sub will still be a classic and hold it's value. The Breitling will never hold the value like the Sub, but I never cared for Breitling watches; they are gimmicky Swatch watches to me.
