Root Beer Sub???

Just got back from the local cigar shop, and saw the owner was wearing what I would call a "Root beer Submariner". It was all SS and (newer looking, but def not ceramic), copper/light brown dial and bezel. I commented "nice watch, never seen one of them before." He replied, "thanks, it was a present for my 60th birthday." I said, "oh, nice gift!" And left it at that...
I've never seen this dial/bezel, is it legit?

No, didn't want to go too far. When he said it was a gift for his 60th, I left it at that.

BTW, it was def not a GMT.

Two tone bezel?
Has to be a GMT, right?

Can you do a Google image search of "root beer rolex" and post a photo of what it looked like?

I have never heard of such combination, but I am not the most knowledgeable.

Best scenario I can imagine is a genuine Sub with an aftermarket bezel...

Are you positive it wasnt a GMT?. A GMT rootbeer looks identical to a 16610 submariner bracelet case wise. Its not like todays GMT where the giveaway is the PCLS. Root Beer GMTS and 16610 subs shared same bracelet. Maybe the older gentleman is not a WIS and just calls it a submariner when its really a GMT
