Icon9 I no longer have my DSSD ..........

Well my DSSD has been running plus 7.5 seconds fast since I purchased it last year and i decided to get it taken care of. I had a few meetings scheduled in NYC yesterday and took advantage of a little time I had in between meetings to drop it off at the RSC. I had a dinner meeting at 5:30. I got there a little after 4, filled out my form and waited a few minutes. I had a few chocolates and looked at the lovely watches on display. They called my name and asked me for the warranty card which was in order and to my surprise they did not ask for proof of purchase as I have seen on other posts.
They took the watch to the back came back about 40 minutes later and told me it was running about 5 seconds fast but the spring seemed really tight so they were going to service it. I figured I was going to have to leave it so I brought my Omega Seamaster that my Dad gave me about 35 years ago. I miss my DSSD but I am glad to give the Seamaster some wrist time.
Has the NYC RSC policy changed?

I have no idea if NYC RSC policies have changed, but here in Australia my warranty card has always been sufficient. I've never been asked (albeit in my very limited experience with the Sydney RSC) for proof of purchase.

I hope you won't be without your DSSD for too long, though it sounds like you have a very worthy substitute to tide you over.

I've never had to show proof of purchase at Dallas or NYC RSCs.

Sorry to hear that friend, it'll come back even more awesome!

I didn't have to show proof of purchase the last time I was there, just my warranty card. The warranty card didn't have my name on it, lets just say it was an issue, but I came out on top!

I think they have to send to Penn. center for the WR test last I herd New York did not have the chamber to test the DS. Make sure it's done right and not just tested like a reg. rolex would be.

I live in Manhattan and have been to the NY RSC many times since 1969. When I have had work done under warranty I have never been asked for anything other than the warranty card. They have never asked for proof of ownership or for any proof that I am the person named on the warranty card. I don't know the policies of any of the other Rolex RSC's in the United States.

I send in my GMT to Dallas RSC for warranty work. They only need the warranty card and nothing else. This was a few months back.

I've been to RSC-NYC a lot over the years and it's inconsistent there. I have been asked for a receipt for newer-model watches (not vintage), but it's not required. I had a Tudor Heritage Chrono that needed regulated last year and I was asked to show proof of purchase. I just said the watch was a gift, so I didn't have a receipt. Nothing they can do in a case like that.

Did they give you an estimated time of completion?

I read that customers are asked for their invoice and warranty card. Thanks

Nelson, I hope you have your DSSD back soon.
I really like that watch and I am thinking of buying one myself.
Must admit that the Omega seamaster is a brilliant watch too

Thanks! The Seamaster has a lot of sentimental value because my Dad gave it to me and I still enjoy looking at it and thinking of him. He has been dead for 20 years now. However, I do miss having the Beast on my wrist. Obviously there is a noticeable difference in size and weight.

Nelson,
Hopefully it will be back on your wrist soon, better than even when you bought it.

All the times I had brought my watch that was under warranty for issues they ALWAYS requested my sales receipt.

Excellent....your getting a service out of the deal.

As far as producing a receipt, it's not required as per the warranty....only the warranty card is needed for warranty work. They can ask for your birth certificate if they wish, but you reserve the right to laugh at them for asking. I'm surprised more people don't dont call out RSC NY on the receipt request.

This is very strange with the NY RSC. Some people say they were asked fior their invoice others were not. I myself was not. However, when I called the first time they told me to bring my warranty card and purchase invoice. Why are there different standards across the RSCs in the US. You would think a corporation/retailer like Rolex that jumps through hoops to protect their brand would make sure they have the same policy across the USA.
