216570 or 16570?
If you were going to purchase an Explorer II, which would you choose and why?

I like the 16570 because I prefer more classically sized watches. The 39mm appeals to me over the 42mm.

I don't like that it's 42mm & hate the fat hands..

While I think the 216570 looks better, I'd have to go with the 16570 because I have puny wrists and the lug to lug distance on the 216570 is pushing it for me.

I prefer the 216570 because I like the Maxi dial, the fat hands, the orange GMT hand, and the larger case. The 216570 is highly legible and has wrist presence. Plus, I think the 3187 in the 216570 is better movement than the 3186 in the 16570.
Good luck with your choice. |

216570 white dial. It is the best watch I have ever owned for reading the time. After all, that is why you wear a watch; isn't it? I would rather the 24 hour hand be painted red instead of orange, but it does stand out.
I've had a couple of people who purchased a black dial tell me that wised they had gotten a white dial. |

I have the 216570 in black and I love it. It was a tough choice between the black and the polar but I chose the black because I liked the contrast and thought it was a bit more legible than the polar - for me anyway.

16570 ALL the way for me. I prefer the size, shape, features, etc.
I really do like the Orange hand...though not enough to sway my vote.

216570 polar. It's a near-perfect watch. It's gorgeous and has amazing wrist presence. As well, it's a nice change from my other black dialed watches. I love the 16570 but prefer the larger 216570. Can't go wrong with either. Good luck with your decision.

I also have the 216570 in black and love it. For me it's the best of all the new sport Rolexes and the perfect compliment to my 16610. The 42mm size is one of the reasons I purchased it, I've never found it too large either. IMO it's perfect!! Wearing it now in fact.

I like the 16570 and will pick one up one day, however, between the two I went with the 216570 in Noir...
Good luck!

Had them both, sold the 42mm.
But i really like each of them, the 42 wore very well & felt at home in todays fashion, the 40mm is however more the size i am accustomed to. Then you have to factor in price difference & the slight quirkiness of the cartoonish hands. Those are the things that stand out for me.

Mixed preferences
I prefer the cleaner dial of the older Exp.II but like the larger size of the current model.
Hmm, maybe a GMT. |

I like the 16570's, as I have a smaller wrist and they fit perfectly.

16570 without hesitation!! Classic, balanced dimensions and timeless design.
40mm is the perfect size for a sports / tool watch in my opinion. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1371434950.231786.jpg |

16570 Polar for me. Prefer the red hand. Dislike the fat hands as they look almost cartoonish to me.

216570 for me. The size and the bracelet put it over the top for me compared to the 16570. I would say the dials are a wash for me between the two. The both have things that appeal and things that don't, but it's strictly personal preference.

New for me.
Coin toss with appearance, but the 216570 gets the nod because I prefer having an anti reflective layer on the cyclops and it has a newer style clasp. Last edited by Bangel; 17 June 2013 at 07:33 PM.. Reason: Forgot to put reason for my choice. |
