I do need to correct the serial no. It's a 6mil. number,I was thinking of a different piece and typing at the same time.

That's a cracker.

Guys, this just shows how a Rolex which is 26 years old looks no different (at very first glance, of course) than the current model.

That's Rolex for you....very subtle changes and moves with the speed of a glacier.

Nice pics and nice watch, Mike. I'm surprised JJ hasn't mentioned the glaring defect - the crown is upside down. Apparently it needs a complete overhaul at and RSC immediately.

Well, the watch was completely serviced by BHRSC a couple of months ago.
This includes a new crystal,gaskets,pressure test polish etc...
In addition a new tube and crown were fitted. The watch has a set of NOS hands that match the dial quite well. These were placed on by a previous owner.
The watch has been well cared for as you can see,and I really feel quite fortunate to have found such a beautiful example.

I had been "on the hunt" for a nice 5513 for a while,but this one was more than I had hoped for.

"hacking" refers to the ability to stop or "freeze" the second hand when the crown is pulled to set the hands.
On "non-hacking" watches the second hand will continue to move while the minute and hour hand are being set.

Geez, how would you set the exact time with a non hacking watch?

Usually, you can apply slight backward pressure to the crown and get the second hand to stop....sometimes it will even tick backwards. Not sure if this works on the older Rolex movements, but I know on the non-hacking Seiko movements it will.
