Pepsi or Coke??

Been looking around trying to decide what my next purchase would be...
I think I'm leaning towards a Pepsi or Coke watch.

My questions are:
1. Which one is more collectable?
2. Does it effect the collectability if the bezel is not original?

Thanks.

MRHY, are you saying that there is no coke and only a pepsi watch?

I have seen it written both ways...
and on the ones I have seen labelled 'coke', the shade of blue looks a LOT darker.

Maybe just a coincidence of lighting in the pics?

Pick up the watch makes you happy, if you are referring to 16710, it is not that collectable, it is discontinue model, but still tons of them out there. You are not going to make too much money by selling it later. Buy the one you like, like to wear it everyday and make you happy, welcome to the forum.

Buy the one in the best condition you can find and then buy the bezel insert you don't have once you get over the fear of swapping them out, you'll do it easily and quickly

Whichever one you get, its inexpensive to get the other one. Pepsi regularly wins the popularity polls on TRF. I own both & wear the coke most of the time, its more versatile IMO.

Pepsi. I like the way the red on the bezel fades as it ages.

The only way to go. Neither will out due the other in value. Better yet, get one GMT and 3 bezels, problem solved.

As you have probably figured out, he was making a joke. There is a Pepsi, there is a Coke, there is a Rootbeer, and there is an all-black bezel insert version. In addition, there is alleged to be a very rare all-blue bezel insert from the 1950s.

As has been noted, none of the 16710 may be that collectable yet. You can figure this out by looking at the prices in the Used Watch market. The 1675 may be a little more "unique."

"Collectable" is kind of a weird thing. Again, as others have said, it is safest to start with a watch that you want, regardless of its collectable-ness (nice word, eh?) and go from there.

I agree.
However, the 16710 might not be considered "collectible" but it's value certainly continues to raise. God knows Rolex made a ton of them but every AD I've walked into around the globe since 2006 has commented on my GMT II saying they could sell it 5 times over that day if they had any in inventory.
No doubt the 1675 would be rarer and considered a "vintage collectible", commanding high prices for quality specimens but don't count the slightly more refined and super versatile GMT II out as it's still desired by many.

Love me some Fat Lady 16760, came with coke only, have had it on all three bracelets it came with, jubilee is super dressy while the 78360 and the 93150 is more sporty.

@ Dan Pierce: I'm sure you're right. I don't know anything about used watch values.

However, I always remember the ongoing talk of the 5513. So collectable. So cool. Wish I could get hold of one. Blah blah blah. When all is said and done, a nice one is worth a solid $3k. Not exactly as "collectable" as a P.N. Daytona at recent auction for $8XX,XXX.

x1,000!....The best way, and fun too; you get to "work" on your watch. A little blue quick release masking tape to protect the case, (not really needed with the stiff plastic blade), a small thin $2 plastic paint scraper, all from Home Depot and your ready to pop off your bezel and swap out your black, Pepsi, and Coke bezel inserts!

The GMT II's are appreciating nicely - about 15%-20% a year. As far as bezel inserts go, from my experience from owning many GMT's (stainless steel models) the black insert is the least desirable. Although the coke and pepsi inserts are popular, the pepsi definitely wins the popularity contest between the two and is preferred by most.
