Rolex Is A Frame-Of-Mind !!!!

The watch we have on our wrist is a telling feature..

It is indeed a frame-of-mind sort of thing where we identify with our timepiece and our time-pieces becomes us.. We are one !! ..

Our watch gives us power....That power goes from our wrist up our arm and directly into our Ego....

Unfortunately this power only extends out from our body as far as another person who can actually recognise our watch, and place the same attributes on it that we ourselves do..

So, in the end..... Who are we, who spend thousands on ~150 grams of metal to wear on our arms ???

I have often tried to rationalise the value against what the watch has to offer.
Nothing more than a £30 Casio.

For me it is not an ego thing as 99% of people I meet never notice the watch.
Do I feel good when I wear it? YES.

It is unquantifiable why we spend this amount on a watch, and when I have worked it out I will tell you.

Who are we? People who appreciate the finer things. When it comes to watches in particular, it's the appreciation of the precision, engineering and craftsmanship. It's a gut feeling. Mechanical watches are just very pleasureable to own and wear.

I'm lucky enough to have two Rolex and one Omega.
The Omega is a better watch no question at all, but the thrill I get when I put on my Rolex Sub is just amazing and probably makes no sense at all to anyone who doesnt own a Rolex.

I agree totally! Somehow, I feel naked if I am not wearing my Rolex or another timepiece that makes me feel happy. Somehow, my day is not as good if I wear "just any old brand". I guess you're right it does give me self confidence. Whether other people then recognises my watch? Maybe some do, and maybe some don't. But it does not really matter, because when I am wearing my Rolex, I feel "on top of things" and that's what is important to me.

Have had a Rolex since the 70's and never gave it much thought other than I liked the watch. Never had more than two at a time. Then I joined this group. For whatever reason, my like of Rolex turned into a passion. Why? Cannot rightly explain other than a greater appreciation of the watch and the people who wear them.

Yep, it tells time!

During these Canadian winters I wear sweaters and long sleeve shirts more often than not. The only one who knows what's on my wrist is me, but that's fine by me. I know that incredible collection of gears, springs and whatchamacallits is doing it's precision thing, and it brings me a great feeling of satisfaction.

I agree completely with Teofilo. My Omega is a great watch, but it never inspired me to join an "Omega Forum;" and, I've never had a desire to buy a second Omega, while I've only had my first Rolex of about 2 weeks and I'm already thinking about which one I want to buy next year.

I guess I differ in some ways toward Rolex. I love my GMT and have a great fondness of Rolex and respect their achievements throughout the years. But, I like watches in general and always looking for my next Omega or a shot at a Blancpain, IWC, Patek, JLC or so many others. There are several brands out there that I would dump my Rolex for in a heartbeat and be thrilled with what I ended up with
