New 6694 owner!
I'm a happy new owner of a 1980 Rolex Oysterdate Precision 6694. This is a big step up for me, moving up from various mechanical Seiko's, a 1975 Omega Constellation, and more recently a solid gold 1959 Hamilton. There was an overseas ad for a 6694 identical to this on another forum and the seller took some stellar pics of it. I had never even considered a Rolex due to cost and the image of the ones I always pictured in my mind were a little too rich in style for me. But this one is very tasteful and clean. I began an internet search and found this one in a nearby antique store. The seller had posted poor pics and an inaccurate description so I drove over to take a look. Bought it on sight for a very reasonable price. He got it from an estate sale. It has a light scratch on the crystal near the 1:00 marker. So far it's keeping acceptable time so I may wait a bit before getting it serviced.

You found a really nice example.
The lugs look nice and fat--not over-polished like many. But it does look like it needs a cleaning. Congrats.

Thanks again! I'm happy to have found the forum and have already cleaned some of the grunge from around the edges of the bezel.

Not a bad find. I hope my watches don't end up in an estate sale......

Just an update. The watch is running +3 sec per day for the past week if placed crown down overnight. I'm impressed!
