Weird crown

This is how my crown was after service by a watchmaker North Palm Beach 1994. No wonder it stopped locking down.

the old crown taken out by wathcmaker or the one put in by the watchmaker?

Looks like a real clunker. But it worked/screwed down after service in 1994? Something changed (tube wear).

It looks like it was pryed out, like someone prying on a beer cap in one spot to crack it open, but why?
