GMT Master II - hour hand query....

Fellow GMT Master II owners - who actually uses/sets the distinctive colored hour hand to reference their 'home' time and the jumping our hand to set to a different time zone they maybe traveling in?

I do the opposite. I use the colored hour hand to reference the "local" time zone I am in.

Most users will jump the 12 hour hand to local time wherever they travel since it is natural to read the time off the dial like on any watch and ordinarily you will be wanting to know the time where you are most frequently. Plus this way you are ready to look up any additional time zones easily if you require.

As for the 24 hour hand, most users have that set to either home time or UTC. It really more or less comes down to which reference is most familiar to you in regards to the offsets to other time zones.

I keep the 24 hour hand set to home time for this reason. I am already familiar with the time differences in the other locations I usually track relative to home time so it makes using the bezel easier for me than to have to memorize all the time zone offsets to UTC.

From home time for short layovers jump the hour hand to local if I'll be there more

I keep GMT hand set to our London Office, where the staff I coordinate with with lives. As I travel the world on business, I use the regular hour hand for the time zone I'm in at the time.

GMT hand to NYC tim to track stock market, hour hand local. Because Afghan is +:30 it was tricky at first, but now its golden. It's truly a smart with with CLASS

This is exactly how I use it when traveling.

GMT hand set to UTC; pilot Wx briefing, clearances and other things are relevant to Zulu or UTC time.

Regular hour hand set to local time as that's what i normall y expect to see when i look at the "normal" hands on a watch.

Rotating the bezel can give me home time if needed.

I set regular hour hand to uk(home) time and GMT hand to where I am travelling.

GMT hand is home time (or wherever else you want to reference), 12-hour hand is local time. That's why the 12-hour hand can be set independently.

GMT hand at UTC then I adjust the bezel to read Manila time. The regular hour hand reflects home, I haven't been out of a different time zone since I bought mine so still undecided whether I will adjust the hour hand or just rotate the bezel to determine where I'm currently at.

Exactly how I do it.. 24 hr hand to home and jump the dial hand to the current time-zone.

I use my Explorer II's the same way. I also set any other dual-time watch that way... Like this one..

Home time stays in the round window (24 hr time).. The pushers on the side will "jump" the dial hand backwards or forwards depending on what time zone I find myself in.

I set the 24 hour hand to UTC and rotate the bezel for different time zones.

Mine is set to Greenwich Mean Astronomical time, I find it really useful
for the branch of astronomy I do. Day change and start of new day
also occurs at mid-day.
