Would you sell these (5) for that (1)?
So I've been bitted by the AP bug pretty bad lately and have started to crave for one of the new 42mm ROOs, either the Safari or the Navy I think. In the last year, I added a stainless steel AP Diver and stainless steel 44mm Ceramic... these two watches are definitely part of my top 3 watches and now I feel like I need (want) a third AP. But that will cost me a pretty penny... in order to afford the third AP, I would need to sell part of my collection. So if you were me...
Would you sell the 5 watches on the right hand side of the pic below (PAM305, PAM183, Zenith Defy T-Open, B&R 01-96, and B&R 01-97 (plus probably a bit of cash) to get 1 of the new AP 42mm ROOs (either Safari or Navy pictured below)? |

Yep and I would get the 42mm Safari. Then I'd be looking at a YG Rolex! if you don't already have one...

Depends on how much wear and joy you get out of those 5 and how badly you want one of those new AP's. For me I would rather have those 2 but I think I actually prefer the old Safari to the new one....Don't shoot me but that old dial is just soooo nice! I was also going to get the new RG ROO and then last month ended up buying a brand new RGRC as I also preferred it. I am probably in the minority but that is ok with me...Cheers,

Luckily I already own a YG GMT, otherwise I would have even more issues .

The thing is I use my B&Rs and a few of my watches exclusively on workdays and my APs/Rolexes/etc. exclusively on weekends... at this point it seems like I have more weekend watches than workday watches, which is why I am also unsure if I should go for it.

Totally. Last year I traded a PP 5059j, a YG GMT II, a AP RO perpetual cal, a AP Alinghi Dual Time for a PP 5970. This is a much easier decision.

Yes...
All nice watches, but I would probably only miss the 305. That can be replaced later. I find myself drifting toward more APs as well. Totally normal... |

I don't see why not. Consolidation is a necessary evil in this game, IMHO.

I rather have fewer high end pieces than more middle of the road, but then again, for you variety may be the spice of life. Only you know what you will be happy doing. Good luck!

Sounds like fun... Yes to the rest, but I don't think I would let the Pam 183 go
