There's just SOMETHING about the Calatrava Cross on a Patek Philippe

That is very cool, I just figured it was part of the Patek logo and did not go any further.

Maybe I should pay attencion to if I am wearing my Calatrava next time a good thing happens to me, although I am not superstious.

Neat read though.

How do you like your 5107 Mort? I am really wanting one right now, although likely in RG.

I love the 5107. I wear it in my regular rotation. If you read my review a few months ago, I think I am a Patek fan. If I could afford another, I would buy one.

The watch is definatly a elegant dress watch, it is not very thick, but it weighs a good bit, more than you would think buy just looking at it.

As far as RG, I would of loved it if it was RG, but I feel fortunate to own one in YG. Plus I bought it from a collector from TZ who had a great reputation. I got a great deal on it, as the seller was wanting to buy a new DD and needed the cash more than the watch.

If you are in a position to buy a 5107 or the newer 5127, you will not have any regarets. I researched and looked at Pateks for over a year before I decided on dropping the ball. Plus finding the deal I found helped me make up my mind faster as I had to jump on the deal.

Clearly you are a dress watch kind of guy, based on your collection in your signature. Tell me, how does it fit into your collection? When are you wearing it? Are you finding it on your wrist more than the others?

As sad as this might be for TRF members, I am thinking that I would rather have the PP over a Day-Date for my grail dress watch.

When I first got it, I wore it almost all the time. Once the newness wore off, I wore it most of the time. I prefer watches on a strap so up until the time I got my Longines, I pretty much wore my Patek and Cartier in rotation. The Longines seems to get the most wear these days just cause it is a unique looking watch with all the complecations.

With this being a Rolex forum, I am ashamed to say niether of my Rollies get the wrist time they used to before I got the three strap watches. Out of my Rollies my DD is still worn a good bit. Still I try to rotate through my collection atleast every two weeks.

Having said this, if I had to choose between my DD and my 5107, I am not sure which I would choose. Hopefully I will never have to make that decision as the DD was always my grail watch, and there is somthing about the way the DD feels when it is on that is different than any of my other watches. Still wiether I am wearing the Patek or DD, I sometimes cant keep my eyes off them. I think they are just two really different watches, one screams expencive watch, the other is real understated that most earth people(non WIS) would never notice.

I wish you luck, no matter what you choose, both are great choices.

I almost forgot, you asked how it fits in my collection, it is a major part of my collection, and if I never buy another watch, I can be happy I own aleast one Patek.
