Recommend me a dress watch

Hello!

I'm looking for a dress watch to go with my sport models. I really love pateks but unfortunately they are bit too pricey for me now. What are options for me in 1000 - 6000 dollar price range? I don't mind buying used.

It has to have:
white gold, ss or similar color metal case
small diameter, under 40mm (Dont like the big watch trend)

I think Mr. Lange got it right in this pic even its a gold watch.

I don't know why but Ultra Thin Moon doesn't really speak for me. Maybe because its so... thin. I like langes and pateks that has bit thickness in them.

I think that somewhere 37-36mm would be more idea size.

Only say this because I saw "deep house" has one for sale, first one I have seen out there and its marvelous.

Many many combinations of JLC. Their master series is not all ultra-thin, other lines are regular thickness.

JLC can't speak to everyone but I love their aesthetic, craftsmanship, history and reasonable price-points. That's what made me think of them for your request, price.

How about Cartier? or one of these three, they are out of your price range but I think the LAS comes in steel and the VC may too, might get lucky and find one used.

The JLC options are nice, but you should look at some of the dressy Omega options as well, on a croc strap they look pretty nice.

1000-6000? there are literally tens of thousands of choices. Anything from seiko and Hamilton up to glashutte and jlc. There's just too many options with this spread. I can tell you that at your price you have maybe a handful of pateks and zero langes. Good luck and enjoy the hunt

Oh well. Maybe I just have to be patient and get the real deal. The sax-o-mat seems to be just what I'm looking for. Why are the nicest ones always also the most expensive onces? I mean I get that they have more complex and hand made movements but it seems impossible to find decent design in cheaper watches.

Have to agree. Especially between 1k and 2k there are probably thousands of options!

This being said, staying closer to $6k, I would look at offering from JLC, GO, IWC, VC.

In terms of style, you can look at Glashutte. In some way I think that is the closest you can get to Lange's style (in fact they somehow share the same heritage).

Zenith ultra thin is also a very nice choice.
It may be 40mm but it does'n look that big. It's not very thin too.

Here's mine:

I also vote for JLC master control or reverso in that price range. Great quality watch with great movements and timeless design.

Jaeger. Take a look at Master Control and Master Calendar. Both will fit your price rage, but you'll have to find them used.

Nomos Zurich Blaugold. In house movement, classic Bauhaus inspired minimalist design and a great dressy watch all round.

JLC MUT moon would also be a great choice though might be a bit above the budget.

Recommend me a dress watch

You could always go vintage. My dress watch is a mid 60's Omega Constellation. It has a 14k cap but also available in SS.

I agree with this.

There are a lot of good recommendations here, but the field is much greater than what is suggested, depending on your taste and budget.
