Trying to educate myself on Rolex Bands

I am looking at a Rolex Datejust 1601 that is all gold. The band doesn't seem to fit properly between the lugs.

I asked the seller about it and he assures me that it is genuine Rolex.

You who have the knowledge please enlighten me... Is this band "OK" the way it fits the 1601?

Thanks!

It is possible that the end link tube has a significant amount of wear causing it to "pull" away from the case. It could also be caused by having improper spring bars (too thin) that can result in the same result.
