I got ripped off by Rolex.man007!!!!

I purchased a Genuine Vintage Rolex Submariner Watch Box set 80'S-90'S" (click to see) advertised on the vintagerolexforum.com on 11 April at 11:02 a.m.

You can check the listing by looking at the date and time (its on about page 9 of the for sales forum at the moment)

Rolex.man007 posted the Submariner box depicting clearly in the second photograph a vintage Rolex box with "Creation Geneva Rolex" printed on the inside lid.

What he sent me was a box with just the single word "Rolex" printed on the inside lid. i.e. A totally different and more modern box than depicted.

Of the 3 photographs shown in the for sale listing, it was only the second photo that very clearly inside lid stated "Creation Geneva Rolex". Surprisingly, that second photo is the only photo that has, since I sent the money to the seller, been deleted from the for sale thread.

I don't get this seller, he showed one thing and sent another, what's more he didn't even respond when he got caught out.

Further, the advertisement said "Genuine Vintage Rolex Submariner Watch Box set"

The Submariner booklet is dated 1.2007 and the Oyster booklet is dated 2.2005 so again what was represented and what was sent are 2 entirely different things.

I feel so let down by this seller that he would dishonestly do this to me.

Is the seller active traders in these communities? If yes, then maybe you can get something back. I saw a guy with a bad deal threatened to root out the bad seller in watchnet and the seller capitualated. Good luck...

I agree with all of the suggestions to out this guy around the forums if he does not give you your money back. I would also let the guy know your intentions if he does not comply and then follow through with a set time period in mind.

I'm sorry this has happened to you. I detest cons and thieves when the easiest thing in life is to do useful things.

I was going to say the same as Mike. Send Richard Carver email at VRF. He and his crew will go the extra distance to nail this jerk AND hopefully get your money back.

yes, chargeback via paypal or your c.c.did he use signature confirmation?if not tell paypal that you never received a thing,that way there is no chance they will not honor your claim.

But I have received an e-mail from the seller, he asks me to send back the wrong box and he will send me the correct box. Given that I don't trust the guy should I send the box I have back or should I ask him to send the correct box to me first

I want a show of good faith by the seller, I think he should send me the correct box first. Any thoughts

You should have at least 30 days to dispute the charge on your credit card, Steve. I would send the wrong box back and tell him if the correct box is not received by you within 10 days (assuming that is within the 30 day window) you will dispute the charge.

There are many "dubious" items sold on the vintage forum. Altered bands, dials I wouldn't touch, boxes, accessories and many self-proclaimed experts that have large egos but minimal knowledge. Frankly, I'd be real reluctant to buy anything there, I'd recommend the same to you - from a law enforcement perspective that is.

Err buddy Steve...Orchi has bought an item of smaller value as advertized in VRF also...from the same seller in Hong Kong...without any untoward issue.

Perhaps it could genuinely be an unintentional mistake in packing n shipping by the Seller...to begin with.

Err buddy Springer...in a similar law enforcement point of view...PLEASE do not generalized...or others MAY take your personal opinion to be biased or stereotyping...

Similarly in here...Orchi for one is new to VRF also...but lately Orchi has bought quite a number of stuffs with small to considerable worth such as vintage watch/bezel assemblies/topics/bracelet/dials/hands/boxes n other Rolex accessories...arising from the relevant FS ads posted in VRF alone.

Pleased to say in here...that the deals done from there have so far been so good...so to speak...as far as Orchi is concerned.

n personally thus far in the relatively new experience...Orchi has high regards to a number of kind n knowledgeable folks in VRF...n similarly in here also.

Nevertheless...you would be quite right to be cautious when dealing with strangers...ANY where over the world wide web.

Oh Steve, I feel your pain man. Have him do the right thing, which is to send you the correct box first. File a dispute with PayPal and or your Credit Card issuer. My credit card protects me from online scams.

If he has advised you that he has made a mistake I would accept that and return the first item. If he was going to scam you why would he send anything, all he would achieve is to ruin all his future sales for a couple of hundred bucks.

Correct thing to do. People do make mistakes, give them an opportunity to make it right before bringing the noose out.
