Proud new rolex owner needs help

Hi members, I am New proud owner of a SUB 116610LN, unfortunately it doesn't hold its wind….full wind wear it normally, it stops after around 28 hrs later…Is this normal?, Thanks for your help….other than that i really enjoy this watch!!

Why leave it off your wrist for so long?

Make sure you give the crown 40 full winds. Clockwise. Look at the embossed coronet on the side of the crown and make sure you give her 40. Some folks think they are winding them up enough, but they really are not. Then let us know if there is a difference.

If you are wearing it continuously it should never stop. If that is the case I would look into having it serviced. If it is new, it will be covered under warranty. In any case stopping is not normal if you are wearing it most of the day.

I wear it every day, except at night, bought it a couple of weeks ago and it just started to freeze on me

To the OP; No it's not normal. If you have indeed given it a full wind it shouldn't stop after 28 hours even if you haven't worn it.

If you got it new probably just wasn't wound enough

Would wind as suggested if it stops after 24 hours needs to go back

It does happen. I know of one new from an AD that had the Rotor being stopped by a raised screw. That's what they said anyway when it was returned. If you wear it all day it should never stop. If it does, take or send it in for a checkup. I know you are supposed too, but I've never wound a watch the full 40 winds upon setting and never had one quit once it was being worn. Rolex or otherwise.

I haven't given my watch a wind since I purchased it.

Something is definitely wrong. Pilot error perhaps?? Not giving it a proper wind??

I see your concern, 100% positive that I'm winding it correctly, counted the turns right before it wound starts to get Little tight ( 46 turns ), the sad part is that I will miss this watch wen it goes for repairs, specially that I researched this watch for 2 years after I made the commitment to buy it. I know at the end it will be alrigh!!!, I hope.. This is my first luxury watch and for that kind of money ( for me ) it's not only pricy but a great investment.

Might not need any repairs.. You haven't done any "testing" on it at all or provided anything that shows it may be defective.

Most people do not top off the wind in their watch by simply wearing it. Most will only put about 20-25 hours into their watch, which is what you are seeing. It is never noticed because we usually all put our watches back on after a good nights sleep.

No matter what, your watch will always run down to only the amount of wind you put into it in a 24 hour period. It isn't how long it is on your wrist, it is how active that wrist is and spending time at a desk or computer will not wind it at all - it is not magic, it is physics. If you take it off when it is at that state, and you only put in "28 hours" then that is when it will stop.

Now, if you wind it, and wear it, and it stops 28 hours after you first wound it, you have an issue. But that's not what your two statements are saying..

I would like to give you a full detail of my experience with this watch ( did not did originally because of my first time in this forum).
I bought this sub on January 2nd, happy as can be, wore it every day put away at night, on January 10 ( 9 days later ) it stoped, wound it full and if I can recall. Monday after noon it stopped again ( got concerned) took the watch off. Tuesday morning took the watch back to the dealer ( in its frozen state ) they wound it and placed it on a machine?, they told me that they couldn't find any issues, so Tuesday they wound the watch shook it left to right to get the mechanism running, ok.. I was satisfied, but!, today at 5:27 pm to be exact it froze ( 28 hrs later ) with normal use of the watch........don't mean to be so detail but I might be doing something wrong? ... I'm taking the watch tomorrow and hope for the best...... Thanks guys again for your concerns of a stranger .... Steve

I am no expert, but 2 description sound suspicious to me, firstly my watch do not need shaking after full wind to start, 2nd after a full wind it should go more than 28 hours.

Steve, did you purchase the watch from a Rolex Authorized Dealer (AD)?

40 full winds will give approx 42 hours power reserve.

It's possible that the rotor has become dislodged if it is not winding on your wrist. If you have a valid warranty, take it to an AD with a watchmaker on staff. Just winding and putting on a "tester" won't find such a fault.

If you do not have a valid warranty, do the same thing but expect to pay the watchmaker for his services.

Had a brand new explorer (39mm) from AD - was fine for 2 months. Then stopped. Went again- thought I had wound it- but stopped again.
Took it back to the AD- they gave me another one straight away without even me asking!
Walked out with a new watch- the one I have now...

Give it a full and test it. If it's still doing that then take it to Rsc

The OP may have been referring that the watch paperwork indicates it originally came from a Canadian AD...I may have mis-understood myself.
