DD 40 Dials

The blue hands dial in this pic looks like the "starburst(?)" pattern. But at the DD the brochure picture and the description says lasered pinstripes. Anyone seen a better more detailed pic than this one which is the only image I have seen on the Internet.

That is the diagonal motif dial, not the laser etched motif dial. Rolex website shows the different motif dials.

Neither. It looks like the Ice Blue dial available only on platinum.

I think the one on the left is in white gold. Lighting may make it look like ice blue, but ice blue only comes on platinum versions (I think?).

I think the blue hands and the smooth bezel tell us it's a PT. But the picture in the color photocopied (i.e. it wasn't a very good picture) brochure at the AD said the Ice Blue dial (with blue hands and numerals) has vertical laser etched pinstripes. They were subtle but I can't make out any pattern like that in the picture on the left.

There are pinstripe, sunburst and new diagonal dials that we've seen so far. I haven't seen pinstripe in pt, only in rose gold so far. Your pics above show sunburst and diagonal.

Love them both..that pale ice blue is killer..good to see a few new details with dials becoming available on Rolexes too. Taste prevails as ever.

I like the diamond tapisserie squares but unlike on an AP the dial font is now hard to read, would have liked them clearer.

I believe the watch on the left has the laser-etched 4 quadrant dial. You can see the horizontal lines at the top of the cyclops.

I love the textured dials - I just saw this one from the past circa 1974, no idea they existed (from the Phillips auction catalog).

Agreed. I wish they put it on a stainless model.
