Walked into Costco ready to buy dinner and almost walked out with TT Sub

Went to my local Costco ready to pickup dinner and saw a TT Sub in the display case. If anybody is looking to pickup a Sub TT in the Bay Area, you can head over to the Mt. View Costco and see 2 Rolex watches on display. I mentioned in another post that Subs are a dime a dozen in the valley and I think this proves my point.

I really like my BLNR so there was no chance of me purchasing the Sub but I always b-line to the watch display to see what is in-stock and I saw the 2 green boxes from the front entrance and knew right away there might be something interesting today at Costco.

TT Sub and a SS/WG Ladies DJ at the Mt. View Costco

Wow, that sub is nice. You should
have bought it and if you changed
mind, you can always return after 90 days ;)

These can't be 'brand new' as only authorised dealers can sell 'brand new' so I think there are better deals to be done especially on here from reputable sellers....

Because you can wear it for 20 years and then return it for 100% refund if you want. Their warranty is crazy. OK maybe not 20 years but I have heard people do this after several years.

We are not sure if this applies to Rolexes. Anyone asked for sure?

Cannot see why not if its the right price, a Rolex watch is just a commodity like any other retail product. And believe the Costco warranty is as good as Rolex own and after any warranty period if any work is needed. Then Rolex will quite happily take you money to service as they need not know where it was bought or care..

I've purchased a tag formula one at Costco and returned it 5 years later and did indeed get 100% back. Although I have heard that if they don't have the full amount in the cash register you have to get a Costco gift card. Not sure though what happens if purchased with a credit card.

Aren't these "grey market" Rolexes?

I'm shocked that Costco can't catch trouble from Rolex for doing this.

Good deal ~ 18% off retail. Costco return policy/warranty can't be beat. Its like an unlimited time satisfaction guarantee for full refund. The 90 days applies to electronics. Apparently, people were abusing the policy and returning obsolete big screen tvs so Costco smartened up and modified the policy. No reason to believe watches do not apply to the standard policy.

Nothing Rolex can do expect buy its product back at "grey market" asking price. They have no power over sellers outside their dealer network.

These do educate the general public about what a Rolex does cost. I am sure many have no idea so at least it offered a educational purpose and close up look. Much like when a car dealer parks a new 500sl in the middle of the mall.

Where and how are they sourcing these? Will Rolex service them? Can we be certain they are real?

I'm sure if Costco is selling them, they are real.

My sister returned a 3 year old computer there and they gave her full credit...this was before the new 90 day limit.

I don't understand this, are you concerned that Costco is selling stolen watches?

I'm concerned because its odd to me for a brick and mortar store to sell a BNIB Rolex without being a official Rolex AD. For as strick of a company as Rolex is, I am surprised they allow this....I never implied that, but who is to say if they are stolen or not - and only way one would ever know is by sending it into a RSC? For those who have purchased one at Costco, do they reveal how they obtain the watches to you as a buying customer?

I have no problem buying from the grey market, its just uncomfortable and a bit off IMHO that random Rolex models show up at various Costco locations w/o any seeming reason. Maybe I am out of the loop, but are there other large scale brick and mortar stores that sell BNIB Rolex's, which are not ADs? As per my original question....why are Rolex's appearing at random locations and not other Costco's? Perhaps someone here works for Costco and can enlighten those of us who remain in the dark and add peace of mind?

It's new and most likely gray watch. I think it was Omega who sued them a few years back for the same issue and lost I think.

What's all the fuss about? There's no risk to buying from Costco, unless they go bankrupt. If you're not satisfied you bring it back for a full refund - be it fake, broken, stolen, 1 second fast or slow, gives you rash, doesnt match your outfit, whatever the reason.

If you find the ref you want and the price is right then buy it. No brainer.

Same reason why Rolex watches are appearing at grey market dealers.
ADs sell them to Grey Market dealers to unload inventory.
So, thats how they pop at Costco most likely.

Thats why you will ALMOST NEVER find a SS Sub in any location but will find slow selling models.
