Query on GMT dials

greetings and salutations to all.

i was given the priviledge of holding a 16700 and 16710 (both A series) owned by a private collector last nite. i noticed that the dial only had "swiss" printed instead of swiss made or t<25 or soemthing. just wondering which is the more desirable dial to own?

Or is there absoutely no difference at all? Thanks in advance.

I believe the one marked Swiss is a replacement dial.if this is true then the other dial would be more valuable.

A series would be around the time Rolex switched to luminova. It's possible you saw an early dial. Initially they were marked "SWISS".

As stated service replacements now are also marked "SWISS"--makes it tricky. LOL!

mike's right.... some A series had the early "swiss" dials (not to be mistaken with the chapter ring "swiss" dials) on them before the switch to "swiss t<25" and the eventual "swiss made" dials....

if the watch has been kept in a safe since the time of purchase, the dial wld be an early "swiss" dial and definitely desirable.... but having been kept in a safe for nearly 10 yrs.... the movement needs to be oiled and serviced....
