I have noticed when taking watches into ADs and other watch type places.....the first thing they all seem to do is undo the winder before doing anything else.
Is there a reason for this or do they all just like fiddling about ???????? Thanks chaps |

Well, I have not noticed this when TAKING IN watches to AD's, but I have noticed sales' assistants giving a watch in the window display that I want to have a look at a quick wind to get it going before showing the watch to me.

I would say they are doing two things.
1 - Feeling the movement by winding it to get a sense of how smooth it is and if it runs ok. 2 - Looking at the crown tube and o-rings to see if it's a fake as lots of fakers seemed to struggle with duplicating the triplock winding tube and sealing arrangements. Just my opinion of course. |

It's a reaction that is normal to look important!
