Purchased my 2nd Rolex watch - need some tips

Hi everyone,

I just joined the forums after being a reader for so long.

So I purchased my 2nd Rolex watch, a Pepsi 16710 GMT. It didn't come with any box or papers.

Out of curiosity would it be worth trying to source a box and the bits and pieces that would have come with the watch when it was originally purchased? For instance I noticed that you can find boxes with the accessories on Ebay for around $200.

As for the missing papers, is there anything I can actually do to try and put this little watch with its history somehow?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou so much.

The box and booklet and tags, etc, which would have come with your watch are obtainable either on eBay or here on TRF. Try to find booklets that were printed up to a year or two (at most) prior to your watch's sale date. As you don't have papers, you'll have to work with the serial number. The original papers cannot be replaced by Rolex, but you can get paperwork with a Rolex service (I even got a Rolex receipt with the serial number of the watch when I bought some spring bars once). What serial number is your GMT?

When you get the watch serviced at an RSC, they will give you a service card similar to the new warranty card (but thinner and I believe no magnetic strip (can't remember)). The rest of the stuff I personally feel is not that important. The service card it the document that gives peace of mind everything is in order.

The watch is a P serial number, I don't have the full details of the top of my head.

I believe "P" should be around the year 2000.

I wouldn't worry about it. Now if you're going to flip it down the road, you might want to consider fleshing out the set...or if you're a collector...

If you can find it, why not make it as complete as you can

I appreciate all the feedback that everyone is giving.

I do have a somewhat silly question perhaps. How do I know what the box for this watch should exactly look like? I have seen a few variations that look similar but have subtle little differences.
