Pictures of heavily worn ceramic models?

Does anyone have any pictures of worn, beat up new rolexes?

I am very curious to how my 114060 will look many years down the road...

After a year and a half of daily wear, mowing, changing oil, swimming, chopping wood, etc... Pretty beat up. Just took this picture a day or two ago.

Note the massive bezel gash outside of the '6'.

I can't see why this watch would be pretty beaten up besides the very small dent at "6" there is nothing wrong with it and I can't see any scratches or what so ever.

That's the point. Ceramic bezeled Rolex with sapphire crystal don't get beat up, except for typical bracelet wear.

But if you look close, you can see a nice ding on the upper crown guard. Maybe that will help. There is also a nasty piece of apparent crusted debris at the 21 hour mark stuck in the crevice between crystal and bezel... Ouch.

Been wearing my BLNR for over a year now - bracelet has the usual scratches on it that you see on every watch. Aside from that everything looks just as new.

Well my 16600 and 16610 both 20 plus years old and sapphire crystals have been around since 1988/9 on subs etc. And would expect these watches of having a very very much harder life than today's pampered Rolex watches. One watch in particular has done well over 600 hours underwater both salt and fresh.Yet apart from normal routine service and a few normal wearing scratches still looks good today. But did have one insert change at a cost of then £27, lost the insert pearl after a air tank gave it quite a hard wack in rough seas.If it had been a ceramic insert quite possible it would have shattered and then a very high price to replace.

No that was not speculation but it was a possibility, there have been quite a few reports on forum of ceramic cracking and breaking. But to my knowledge of being around Rolex watches for well over 30 years never heard of a aluminum one shattering or breaking.

Same with me.
What a perfect all rounder watch.
How did that little dent next to the 6 o clock happen if I may ask?
Just curious..

I've had my SubC Date for almost 3 years. The bracelet is pretty scuffed/scratched up. The clasp is even more scuffed/scratched up. The side of the case has a few nice dings as do the lugs. And a few dents on the bezel. Pretty beat up in my opinion. It's all good!

ceramic doesnt scratch easily (and by easily i mean good luck scratching it unless you are intentionally trying by striking it with a diamond). its more likely to shatter. 904l steel wears the same way it has always worn. not sure what the question is here....

I wear this watch all the time. It bumps into things like door knobs, door jams, radiators, winches, overhead bins, buckles,... all manor of things that arms bump into... so don't know what specifically.

Agreed... a while back I poked around in years worth of forums and located a similar amount that were 'proven' vs. hearsay from a friend of a friend. This year there did happen to be 2 in one week... But those were the only 2 from this year... not that many people post about Rolex watches on forums.

Interestingly, there are a number of replica Rolex posts about cracked bezels... I assume an inferior product... Or maybe they have more in circulation?

Quite true but but more than four have been reported on forum, but since forum started way back in the latter part of 2004 not heard of or seen any reports of the aluminum shattering in production of many many millions.

My Deepsea 116660 has been a daily wearer for over 16 months now, and has a couple faint bracelet scratches on the clasp (from desk diving), and a ding on the upper lug from me dinging it in the bathroom. If it were to be sold on TRF, it would rate 9/10. So you have nothing to worry about!

I smashed my BLNR bezel on a railing earlier this week and have been inspecting the watch over the last little while and cannot see any marks...

3 years of use including wearing during rebuilding of heavy equipment and over 60 hours underwater. I managed to scratch everything including a small scratch on the crystal, but the ceramic looks new. The clasp was scratched on a rock after I was hit by a wave exiting after a night dive. All should clean up at first service.

If it is 4, 14 or even 40 - it is still a insignificant number - given the wast amount of Rolex watches bought by owners.

Personally, I prefer the alu insert - as that will age in line with the rest of the watch.

I think my Day-Date is my only watch without a smudge on it. I'm pretty careful, and it is usually protected by sleeves at work.

Good to see a rolex sub holding up under those circumstances... and we still have people worried about desk diving scratches

I've had my BLNR for nearly a week and already I have hit two door frames, a wall or two and numerous desk scrapes and not a mark to be seen. I have a feeling the bracelet might not be as forgiving. If I don't find it to be too sacrileges, I might put the watch on a strap for a while. It's a shame that the Lume, dial and bezel won't, or at least I think they won't, develop a patina that is suggestive of provinance and a past. But we'll see. Maybe the majority of Rolex buyers want their watches to look new forever and a day.
Cheers
