Submariner Differences
I know this sounds stupid to some, but I'm conflicted regardless and purchasing shortly.
Can you spot the difference between these two watches? http://i.imgur.com/UStRWu7.jpg The one on the right is featured in the 2015-2016 catalogue. It appears this will be the dial of Submariners most ADs get in for 2016. I really can't decide which one I like better or if it makes a difference. I get it, I'm OCD and this is inconsequential. However, if your only comment is to point that out, please just move on. If you have a preference between the two styles, curious as to which one and why? |

Minor differences in the dial font...why does it make a difference to you?
It's just preference, there will be no logical answer, it's just what you like vs. what someone else likes. In saying this, I like the one on the right. The font looks nicer. (shrugs) |

Prefer the left dial as the right one has a 'typo' in that there is an extra space on the 2nd Line of type where it says '100ft = 300m'. There is a double space before the '3'.
The kerning needs tightening up. It would bug me. |

I got mine in 2013 and my dial is the one on the right. I actually prefer the one on the left but the changes in real life aren't noticeable. The size of the font and the crown in real life is so small that it's very hard to tell. Everything looks bigger and more noticeable in these close up pictures. It's not really noticeable with the naked eye

I prefer the long feet dial, looks better...the short feet, as mentioned above, has spacing issues IMO.

What an interesting coincidence I picked up a brand new watch Friday night and when I held it next to my other one I was hoping for different fonts. Ta-daaa!

I still can't see a difference.
What does it matter if they are both genuine? |

It's like twin sisters. One is ultimately more beautiful than the other. You are lucky if you can have them both ;)

Does this affect the 114060 as well?

There are dial variations and there will be others in the future.
Just choose one you prefer - there is no right or wrong.

Left. Although it is close. I prefer the left for spacing and thickness of the font. But I don't like that the zeros are circles instead of ovals as circles are usually used for the letter "O" and the oval for zero. But I still prefer that than the spacing of the = on the right dial.
But with that said even though I would choose the left over right I would still happily buy the right if that was all that had. |

It looks like my late model 14060m has the Right side fonts; however = appears to be evenly spaced between ft and 300. Am I seeing things correctly?

Have to agree over the past 50 odd years there have been hundreds possible thousands of fonts changes on all watches.Trouble today with lupe mania and high magnification these are spotted mainly by the OCD types.Trouble with being a OCD type it often takes all the enjoyment of owning and wearing a Rolex watch.

Mine is an 114060 and has font type like the one on the right. Purchased September this year. I was more concerned that the case had no scratches since I specified it must be new from the coffin from the vault.
With that being said if they had both new from the vault I would have taken the one on the left. If they had the one on the left in the display case and the one on the right new in the vault I would go with the one from the vault. |

Mine looks exactly like yours Jack, I know of at least three variations in font and spacing on the 14060M, I believe "ours" are a later version, mine is a G serial. These subtle differences occur often, pick what you like if you have a choice.

As long as it's a genuine Rolex, I would buy it and be happy to have something a bit different. I'm not OCD, nor is it a defect, so I wouldn't care.

I forgot to mention the circles in the crown are different sizes. My green one us smaller than black. Look at your pic. Right watch is smaller.

I think on this forum the terms "OCD" and "attention to detail" are often confused or used interchangeable when they shouldn't be.

Pictures in a catalog do not represent exactly what Rolex will be selling through their Dealers..
They do not "apparently represent" what Dealers will be offering, they are just stock photos.

Who notices the feet every time they look at the watch anyway? Must have hawk eyes. Both are awesome and I'd be proud to own either one. In cases like this, I take the one they have in stock and fall in love with it. I don't waste too much time over it.
