Is my 16753 considered Vintage?

Hi Guys,

I know there is a bit of conjecture about what is/isn't vintage but I just aquired this 16753 boxed set. (1986).......
I am absolutely thrilled with it (and yes, I know it's been polished) would like consider it a vintage piece, complimenting a couple of Rolex watches I own from the 1990's and a current model GMT Master II.

A car is normal given vintage status at the age of 30 and that's what this watch will be in a month or two.......
It is one of the last plexi crystals Sports Rolex's made.

If you feel it's not, then what feature would make it vintage?
I presume it could only be a 4 digit model number, non quick set or older style nipple dial.

Appreciate you comments.

Bob.

Yes you can safely call that vintage. Sorry to tell you that the red chrono tag is fake, though.

Yes...non-hologram...price is a little on the high side, though.

Sounds like you are disappointed that the watch has been polished.

In a perfect world I would have prefered it not to have been but I knew it had been prior to pulling the trigger. I'm probably a bit more interested in books and certificate and all the other goodies that came with it.
One way or the other I will get the correct Chronometer red tag so it will be a nice authentic completed set.
Like the analogy I used in my original post, try finding a desirable car that is 30 years old without a paint touch up.....
Yes, they are out there but very rare and normally not in my price range.

Cheers,

Bob.
