Yacht-Master randomly stops

I have a 2012 yellow gold YachtMaster ref 168628 and it has been giving me trouble. Whenever it's laying on its side with the crown facing up it stops after just a few hours. It doesn't seem like it's using all of it power reserve because it only takes about 10 winds of the crown to fully wind it. I know I need to take it in. I'm just curious as to what could be the issue.

How do you know that it is fully wound at 10 turns

Sometimes if a watch stops when on edge and not at other times it is a broken jewel or staff pivot. There are a host of other possibilities though.

Ok yea it's gonna go in soon for sure .. (I can hear a slight change in the winding noise when it stops winding the mainspring)

There are those that can tell whether or not an auto wind Rolex is fully wound by sound or feel of the winding; Rolex recommends forty winds to fully wind and they can't be over wound. 10 winds likely isn't close to being fully wound. Why do you say it is fully wound in 10 winds; my guess is that it's barely wound.

Interesting that it only stops when crown up. Is this even after you have been wearing it regularly. You do need around 40 turns to ensure a full wind. I had a Rolex that would intermittently stop & start every few days. It's a sure sign that it needs service.

Just to be sure I would see how it does with a full wind before sending it in.

Sorry I was unclear. This is a watch I wear everyday. My point was it stops on its side before the reserve is out I can tell because even if I tap it without moving it enough to move the rotor it starts again.
Again for me there is a slight bit more resistance while winding the crown when the clutch engages after the mainspring is fully wound.
