CEOs being embarassed wearing Rolex?
Just found this photo on the internet incl story behind it. The photo shows Klaus Kleinfeld (CEO Siemens) in 2004. The left photo was used in summer 2004 but again for the shareholder's meeting in early 2005. He had asked to remove the watch from his wrist...funny isn't it???

Well maybe because he looks like a Rolex ad in the first picture. Having one on and posing with one is a bit different.
I suspect he had it changed because he looked like an idiot, not because anyone thought a guy making millions running a company worth billions sends the wrong message wearing a stainless steel watch. Of course, maybe the "fashion police" got to him and they expect something less "Lloyd Bridges" for a business suit. |

i agree i think the positioning of his hands makes you focus too much on the watch

Of course, maybe he didn't want to look too well-to-do since he just announced he was cutting 16,750 jobs worldwide.

Yup, he looks like he's flashing his watch in the first picture, actually pulling his sleeve to show it! Second pic looks better imo.

See this: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...icle508922.ece
I think der Spiegel did a piece on this first. Kleinfeld is not boss of Siemens anymore. He's now boss of Alcoa. It was the new CEO Peter Loescher who announced the 17k job cuts. |

Maybe it has to do with something about the brand. See maybe it is best he dosent associate to any brand, could be a PR move, so he dosent show any afiliation to any brand, especialy if that picture is shown in any news media
But in general i say, no one should be embaraced LOL its nothing to be embaraced about |

Whoever was smart enough to tell him he looked like a watch advertisement should have also told him the whole nonchalant lean thing isn't the best way to strike a pose.

I think the reason why this photo thing was blown out of proportion was that Kleinfeld promised to close down non-performing divisions of Siemens (i.e. job losses) and with a CEO wearing what considered as blingy watch, that image doesn't convey well. So, there is a spin job that backfired
In the end he didn't do a good job either - sending the mobiles division to Benq and it all blew up in his face. |

I think the problem is the way he is posing in the photo, it accentuates the focus on his watch, kind of like he was modelling for a watch magazine.
At least the guy has good taste in watches

To be absolutely frank, your attitude towards Rolex makes your presence on this forum absolutely puzzling.

Well, it's really strange that you're claiming to sympathise with the man. Can you make up your mid?

Uhh, Martin, I know the guy's a pain, but you're above sinking to his level and language. Care to amend you post?

And from your repeated use of the term Moron to describe your subordinates (assuming you really were ever in any type of real leadership position...I have my doubts about that...but that's another issue altogether), I've got to believe 'Fear & Respect' more accurately should have read, 'Despised & Disrespected'. Please spare us the repeated false bravado in conjunction with the sophomoric, foul-mouthed posts. I thank you in advance. |
