The story of Charlotte, our cat

This is a picture of Charlotte, our cat and for her story, please read on...

My wife and I were living in Charlotte, NC in 2000. One weekend, some friends were visiting from Atlanta. On Saturday morning, my buddy and I went out and brought home some breakfast from a Bob Evans. Upon leaving the parking lot, I noticed a small kitchen cuddled underneath a car in the parking lot meowing like crazy. She was covered in grease from head to toe. I gave her some of the eggs I was taking home and she ate those like she had not eaten before in her life.

Upon returning home, I casually mentioned it to my wife (who is a big animal lover). The next day after our friends had left, my wife said let's go and see if she could find the kitten to try and feed her some food. We found her huddled underneath a car, meowing like crazy. For several weeks, my wife would stop by the Bob Evans and feed the little kitten daily. Finally, one day my wife said she was going to catch the kitten. I suggested getting a fishing net and trying to throw it over her when she was eating. However, I told her to wear gloves when doing this as she might try to bite her once she is captured.

The next day, I got a 911 beep on my beeper (before we all had cell phones) from her. In the process of catching the kitten, she was bitten on her thumb and was bleeding. I left work and took her to an emergency clinic to have her checked out. Animal Control showed up at the clinic as in NC it is required to report animal bites when treated. We told the story to the individual who gave us 48 hours to have the kitten checked out before they would be required to come get her.

The next day, my wife took a day of vacation and took the kitten to our vet and had her checked out. That afternoon, I met my wife at the vet. Turns out, the kitten was about five months old the best the vet could tell, had lost about a third of her tail and was in pretty good physical condition. The vet had given her a bath and turns out she was snow white in color. Remember, she was covered in oil from living under cars, so we didn't know her fur color. As we left, the vet informed us to let her live in a confined space for about 48 hours before getting her acclimated to our house.

Upon getting home, we put her in one of our upstairs bathrooms to get used to living indoors. A couple of hours later, my wife went to check on her and was calling my name after being in there for a couple of minutes. I ran up the stairs thinking something bad had happened. When I went into the bathroom, the kitten was sitting on my wife's lap and purring as loud as a motor engine. When my wife looked up at me, she said I think we will name her Charlotte in honor of where we rescued her.

I thought I would share with everyone as Charlotte has become one of the family.

Our cat Goofy

She is blind and was going to be put to sleep when she was a Kitten
I almost hit the owner and took her, she is by far the smartest cat we ever
had now , and we have had a bunch of them. She just had her 8th B-day and I would not take a millon dollars for her.
And my wife fat Bunny , we recued her from being a boa's dinner.

Our cat adopted us as a skinny stray kitten, after looking after it for a few months we noticed it was getting quite fat - we were pleased it was putting on weight. Then all of a sudden there was a sudden weight loss!!

5 kittens to the delight of my wife and children and we ended up keeping 3 of them, so we are now a 4 cat family

Great story and a beautiful cat. I had an all white cat in high school and she had one yellow eye and one blue eye and was deaf. I own one cat today who has been throwing up all day. I'll trade you.

She's a beautiful creature who was lucky to find you. She reminds me of Vukota's cat. She has a twin in Serbia!

I now realize that I need to stop drinking right now. Why? That damn cat looks just like a rabbit.

I must've misread the post because I thought the fat bunny was his wife

Greg - I'm kidding! Your wife's bunny is very cute!
